I think this will come down to Illinois and Michigan State for Smith.

It is Smith's decision. I don't believe in the crystal balls, as we've seen in the past how they can be deceiving. Kinda gets your hopes up, but I wouldn't fully trust it whole-heartedly.

Sign me up for believing that we are going to land Smith, Francesco Badocchi and Bragg. I don't see Moore coming if Smith signs because we are going to be loaded at the guard spot (1 & 2 which I think will be interchangeable in BU's system).

If Tilmon decided tomorrow that he wanted to re-commit, I think Underwood would absolutely accept that re-commitment. Let's not pretend like this is a "we didn't want him anyway" situation. Even if we got commits from Smith, Bragg and Badocchi tomorrow, we'd still take Tilmon.

I agree that the odds of Tilmon signing with Illinois are low. Indications are that Tilmon's mom wanted him to stick with Illinois, but his dad wanted him to go elsewhere, and dad won the argument. But for whatever reason, Mizzou hasn't wrapped this up yet, and Kansas has been mentioned as being in the mix.

Maybe this is just waiting to see who has the fattest envelope, or maybe his dad really just wanted Jeremiah to consider all of his options. Either way, I haven't seen anything credible lately that points to a definite conclusion. It always seemed like Jeremiah wanted to play with a friend and another top dog at Illinois (for a long time, that was Goodwin), so I guess there's an outside chance that Mark Smith signing with Illinois would change the calculation for Tilmon.

It's not out of the realm of possibility that TJL's 3P% goes down, as both his usage% and contested fg% will go up. He didn't take many 3pt shots this season, and when he did, they tended to be pretty wide open. That won't be the case next season.

I'm not sure I would agree with that, just because he is a facilitator and, therefore, an opportunistic perimeter shooter. He most likely will continue to only shoot the wide open shots, and, if that's the case, his percentage may go up.

100% guarantee that if he visits OSU he is not coming to Illinois. No question
Why? Not saying that he is a lock for us, but he has been taking advantage of the opportunity to visit all his schools before deciding. Obviously I wish he would cancel the trip and announce his commitment immediately but I don't think this means we are out.

Probably not a good sign, but who knows. Obviously MS wasn't blown away enough by his visit to commit today, but he might just want to see out the OSU visit to confirm whatever way he is leaning. Should be an interesting few days.

If he was sold on Illinois he wouldn't need to take another visit. I feel like if he was confident with Illinois there would be no need in taking the visit to OSU. Just my opinion. This is also coming from someone who has been skeptical of him coming here all along.
Fair enough. I just wasn't sure if you had some inside scoop.

This is pure drivel. Have you never taken your time with a decision before and weighed your options?

No guarantee there whatsoever that if he visits he's gone.. It has been down to MSU or Illinois for weeks so there's no reason to think the OSU visit is anything but a courtesy to Matta and staff, and when it comes to his decision, just remember there's no place like home.:shield:

i don't think going to OSU, if he does, means anything. The Smiths have been very thorough in this process. They had a plan and they are following it. I still think Illinois is in the lead they just have to survive one last challenge. Things could change but I think they are looking good at the moment.

Tilmon who?

Seriously, I don't remember the last time his name was mentioned on this thread. I don't remember, however, was his release granted and accepted and whatever so that there's no obligation whatsoever between the two parties?

If so, he's history, and I don't think there's a spot for him on the team by the time he could reconsider. He's burned that bridge. Not only has the SS Tilmon sailed for Illinois, the SS Illini has sailed for Tilmon.

At least this thread seems to have no interest in him. And I don't see Underwood carrying a torch.

You seriously think that if Tilmon wanted back we woundnt take him? You actually seriously think that the highest rated C we could possibly get we would pass on if he wanted to commit?

It's a good rule of thumb that if you're ascribing any motive to a visit other than "he's interested in going there," you're probably going to end up pretty disappointed.
