We might offer the whole Mac Irvin Fire

Well if we go after enough surely Chin will get a couple of them to come on down . Also gives them plenty of reason to make sure to be at tons of the games to see them all

Looking at the 2017 players we are going after besides Smith how many of them really look like players who will start some point for a top half Big 10 school. Hope we are not having to do what Groce did when he took Tate and settling for whatever players we can get at this point. On the positive hopefully we get a player that develops over time and contributes as a junior or senior on a good team.

We could do a lot worse than having MIF serve as our farm team. Those guys have done a tremendous job of identifying young talent. Hopefully, the hiring of Chin and the overtures we've been making to them lead to a steady pipeline

Finke 26 pts, 8 rebs. Can anybody from Indiana tell me about this Damezi Anderson kid from South Bend? He's had a pretty good weekend. http://www.d1circuit.com/game/show/17609925

Damezi Anderson, is a really good player. I saw him play this year during HS season. The game I saw him play he went up against Keion Brooks, who is a 2019 prospect from Fort Wayne, and is blowing up. He's playing for Speice Indy Heat on the EYBL, and Izzo has already offered. Damezi really held his own against Brooks, he wound up with around 30 I think, but his HS team, was not very talented surrounding him, so he had to take a lot of ill-advised shots. His form is a little weird, but he gets it off, and he rebounded extremely well in the game I saw him.

Getting what you can is much better than getting nothing. If BU's first class is similar to Hill, Nunn, Colbert, Morgan, and Tate (plus Rice as a transfer) then I will be happy. I think a good coach could get more out of the group (especially if Nunn stayed out of trouble, which is just bad luck).

You can't really expect much of anything from a first class. Groce's first class definitely didn't kill him.

Thanks! I'm watching Speice right now because of Tyger. Just looked up Brooks' number and will check him out in the 2nd half. They're up by 6 over The City Rocks (NYC).

Agree have to take what you can get at this point and hope for the best. My only concern is every year we don't make the tourney it makes recruiting that much harder and that much harder to turn things around. While I don't think we will stay there we have been trending toward being a bottom half Big 10 program for most of the last 8 years. If BU can't get things turned around at a minimum by year 2 things could get really tough around here

Honestly,

They all look like they can contribute. They are all bouncy athletes that can shoot and run the floor.

I saw Keion Brooks at the Indiana HS championship game his team never got him the ball but he's going to be a beast in college.

He's already top 30 on Rivals

Speice and City Rocks are going into a 3rd ot - Brooks has looked real good -- as well as Tyger -- but the kids on both teams look like they're ready to drop. Been a pretty frenetic pace, like most AAU games.

:thumb: No problem. Waiting for the Meanstreet stats. They won 94-85 over Playaz (NJ) and Finke had the best game I've seen him have. I don't see him near as much as I see the Chicago area guys but he led MS from a 6 point deficit to a win over the last 5 or 6 minutes.
I'm retired so I can go out and about whenever and high school and college basketball is the only sport I follow so AAU ball is great for me even if it does mean I'm glued to the computer all weekend. I always like to see how the kids we're recruiting are doing.

LOL. Mike, have you found your happy place?? Good for you!

Maybe I'm seeing something most all not getting. Coach has been on board about a month, he has put together a good diverse staff, and now going out and picking the young men that he wants, to fit his system. No more walk ball up an see 2 big guys looking to pick and roll and set up the rest of offense. This bunch will have 10 points before the old way gets 2. New game that gets up down court. New coach that is out there , with the recruits, not afraid to pull the trigger on offers to good talent. This is something we as illini fans have not seen before. Hang on to your hats, #we will win.:D

I am very excited about Coach Underwood and the staff he has put together. His teams are going to be fun to watch and I think when kids see his system and the team making the dance we are going to be getting some really good talent in the coming years. He came in at the 11th hour this year but is working hard to lock up some players that can help us immediately. Hopefully we can get Mr Smith, Francesco and or the kid he offered last night and make the dance this year. If not I am not going to be worried because given a full year to recruit he will get it done, and the style of ball is going to be fun to watch. I am very excited for our future.

I'm really hopeful Underwood can be our Bo Ryan. That would be incredible, obviously.

That was Groce's second class, Groce's first year Weber had Orris lined up & Groce passed leaving the class empty.

My concern is big, we really can't afford not to take a big for the 3rd year in a row.
