You don't need to be talked off a ledge you need to be slapped. Good grief why follow college basketball in mid April if you are this defeatist? Watch a baseball game and get a grip.[/QUOTE

Oh Ward, don't you think you're being just a little too hard on the Beaver?

Literally, no one has said that.

The Bruninga comments were raised by the quote from the Peoria JS. That is, "Illinois also has expressed interest in Bruninga, according to his AAU coach Gavin Sullivan, who says the coaching staff wants the player to take an unofficial visit."

But, of course, anyone wanting to have any discussions related to him you quickly shoot down. He may or may not belong with a P5 team but I guess that's for you to decide. I'll let BU know you're not interested.

Today on Loyalty I learned that post counts mean squat.

+10000. I have no idea if Bruninga is a P5 player or not but there is literally no downside to tell him to come in for unofficial visit and have him workout with current players. I don't understand people's arrogance and dismissveness towards him. I don't know if anyone has noticed but we aren't exactly setting the world on fire with our recruiting, and we desperately need bigs.

Here we are weeks after hiring our new coach, since then, 2 de-commitments, class rank plummeted, but hope for the big picture future seems to still dominate. Yammer of who remains on the market, and our dream team staff will deliver a good group to our class.

BUT, with all the mediocrity, sub Illinois standard seasons and missed recruits in the last 10 years, I can't help but feel this years class will ultimately disappoint, AJ or DJW will transfer, and we will be in the same It will get better, it has to get better status.

Is this panic, paranoia, Murphy's law? Someone please talk me off the ledge!

Goodness gracious.

To answer your question, they are one in the same.

We have competent leadership in place. We are battling programs with firm foundations, and the ones that don't(Miz), aren't of concern. Welcome to month 1.

Love how Mizzou isn't a concern when they could possibly take our biggest recruit, and alongside SLU, essentially shut us out of STL area recruiting. This board's arrogance and dismissive nature towards Mizzou is a mistake.

I worked with some close to situation at UK and can tell you that Smiths name is new to the agenda here. I have credible info that he is indeed a security blanket here and an insurance policy to the one and done prospects they have already landed. The plan for him is to secure him to the roster as a player that will be here's for a few years as UK circulates through one and dones and he is not rated as a one and done by the UK staff but yet a player they feel like they can land simply by the blue blood appeal to the Smith camp.

Like the guy (I think it was Roe) said on the 30-30 last night, "Cal can sell water to a well."

Just my opinion, but it looks like the same thing happened to a kid my friend coached. Kid was verbal to UVA until Cal came sellin'...kid bought the water and spent the season withering away on the pine, watching the 1-n-dones. Next season, more 1-n-dones, more pine? Hope not, kid could go anywhere else and play.

Could, possibly, what if, Mike.

Look, we've been able to pull solid(not always balanced) recruiting classes together under inadequate regimes - I'd anticipate an improved(subjective) staff will do the same.

This time, I trust their talents will be maximized on the floor.

people keep saying "kids who want to be here"...are there kids who want to be here who end up going elsewhere? If Smith wants to go to Kentucky, I wish him well. I will root for him except when facing the Illini. If kids really believe that Kentucky puts them in the NBA, I can't fault them for choosing Kentucky. I was naive coming out of high school and I thought an Ivy League education would get me into medschool over going to UI. If I knew then, what I know now, I probably would have stayed at UI. Same situation. Back then, you couldn't convince me that going to UI over an Ivy would get me into medschool. That's why I don't blame the kids who want to go to a blue blood program.

I never had any hope once Groce was let go.

But, as I had posted earlier, I will not miss Smith. Prefer kids who want to be here. Especially with BU.

Shockingly enough, most every team lands players that wanted to be there.... generally it is why they commit.

That being said, I would love to know your opinions on D Will

The bromance that certain posters here have with Bruninga is baffling. Just look at his offer list. Tells you all you need to know.

Okay, I have never seen Bruninga play, nor did I ever see Happ play in HS, but other than the Wisconsin offer, what offers did Happ have? Verbal Commits shows only 2 other offers (Milwaukee and UW Green Bay), both out of the Horizon League.

Same source shows Bruninga with several offers including 3 from Missouri Valley Conference, so other than Wisconsin, who has (had) the better offers?

Wisconsin was the offer that mattered though. Bo Ryan used to offer and other coaches would come sniffing around because they knew Ryan had an eye for under the radar guys.

Absolutely, this is what we hired Chin for and might as well start now with CM. Follow it up with Ayo and THT. Not a bad MIF start.

sounds good to me as well! If he wants to play as fast paced as possible it would be nice to have a rotation of at least 9 players if not more

Not to mention the Simeon connection that gives us with tht. All steps in the right direction.

From the Jordan Brand game. I hope these 2 guys really want to be somewhere other than MSU or they might be completely unbeatable next year. Pretty close to it with what they've got now.

This makes no sense to me. What chance could Groce have possibly had with Smith when everyone keeps talking about his desire to go with a coach and program that can get him to the NBA? IMO we have more of a chance with this staff.
