Unfortunately there's just kinda no two ways around the fact that Feliz doesn't have any other offers.

If he's coming I say bienvenidos y buena suerte, but I wouldn't be expecting a cornerstone type contributor.

That's because he has "Ofertas"

Brad and the staff are not messing around. Now offical for Maurice Calloo. Who by the way has not visited anyone else. Takes Black spot sounds good to me. Hopefully Matic still leaves to open up another spot. Like I said in a previous post sould be young and fun to watch next fall. In Brad we trust Make Illni great again.

I'm wondering if Feliz's academic issues aren't causing some schools to back off. Is everything in order there?

Wondered this as well, especially as another kid who's not a native English speaker. It would explain the lack of recruiting interest.

But I also saw a retweet on his timeline from one of his Juco professors complimenting him on an A in his English class, so hopefully that's an indication of where his academics are.

I'd love to get insight from someone who follows youth international basketball. At that event, he played against Serbia, Greece, Korea, Italy, Argentina, Tunisia, and Iran. Do those countries have some of the best U19 talent in the world? Maybe a couple do, but I wish he would have played against the US. I know how good team was (Brunson, Giles, Tatum, Jaren Jackson...).

I don’t follow youth basketball, but here are some of the guys he played against in that U19 tourney, for what it’s worth:

Bingo, this is the key. NCAA ruled him ineligible at USF due to OA's brother being involved in academic fraud. If 2 years later the NCAA has not forgiven and qualified him, then all is not good. I would imagine he spends a lot of time with admissions during his visit.

If we're after a 6'8" high school guy, sounds like Hinson is still in play.

Also, can someone explain the OV rules?

Institutions get 24 official visits in any rolling two year period for mens BBall:

https://www.ncaa.org/sites/default/...ficial_Unofficial_Visits-SEMINAR_06302016.pdf

That PDF also has a bunch of other info on the visit restrictions - time limit, transportation, meals, etc.

Not sure how many we used last year? Anyone tracked how many we used last year? With Junior now able to OV after Jan 1, I am not sure what a "year" actually means but I assume it is just a calendar year between two dates but I didn't see the info in that PDF, although it implies that is is not Jan 1 to Jan 1.

In theory, we will be recruiting way fewer newcomers in the next two years.

There are team that have contacted him, including:
SMU
Dayton
Rutgers
Loyola Chicago
UAB
Gulf Coast University
UW Milwaukee
Akron

Tidbit: He was originally recruited by Louisville (just like Ramey) before he selected to play for Antiqua.

24 official visits to hand out from April 1st 2017 to April 1st 2019.

We were down to 10 going into this weekend. Add feliz and Griffin brings us down to 8. Still have to figure in hinson/ramey/oak hill kid and any 5th years to take that number down. We're running pretty low unless there are rules around it.

Question, do Juco's and 5th years count on the official visit count, or is it just HS players?

According to the link, it appears that 5th year transfers do count as official visits, so I would guess that Juco does too.

It has been a while, it was 2015, but from that group Serbia, Greece, Italy and Argentina are traditionally very good teams. Obviously, USA and Canada are currently the top teams at that level, since Doncic (Slovenia) plays with the men's team and not youth.

But there was excellent talent back then, especially if you consider that Greece alone had Tyler Dorsey (NBA), Papagiannis (NBA), and Mitoglou (Wake player who left early to sign in Euroleague) on their team. Granted, he had a relatively low game production (12 points) during that game, but competition was really good.

That Calloo visit came out of nowhere. I didn't even think we were seriously in on him. Hope that doesn't mean we are out on Hinson, who I really liked.

As for Feliz's lack of other offers, I'm wondering how much it has to do with other teams simply not wanting to waste their time on recruiting a kid who once committed to OA when OA is again recruiting him and he's reciprocated interest? Similar to the bluebloods not really getting involved with Ayo since I'm sure they knew the strong connections we already had there and he was almost a given to sign with us. I fully expect that if Feliz's visit goes well he's ours.

We will never be a team that plays more than 10 players and likely rotations are typically 9. So 3-4 players will be long-term projects or practice players. I have no issue giving Matic further time to develop. He was our tallest player last season and towards the end of the season I saw improvement. Still think the lights were too bright and the game was too fast for him last season. But I think he will either contribute at practice or in games next season. You will never have 13 players who are 4 and 5 stars, even the high 3 will bolt if not given playing time.

I think this happened with Damonte and a couple other players we have landed over the years when proximity and ties to university/team dissuade others to get seriously involved.

Your facts are going against the narrative. But all joking aside, being rated the top JUCO PG and #12 player is not too shabby. In videos he looks to be an upgrade over TJL (can shoot the 3's) and I'm a TJL fan.

Ramey, isn't slow playing anybody, he's not sure where he wants to go to school. I wish he would announce today.

10-11 man rotation next year is an almost certainty in my opinion.

This was my thinking as well. Seemed like, from the first mention of El General, that he was likely earmarked for UI.
