How can someone regarded as one of the best in NY be have over 200 players ahead of him? Seems a bit unfair, but if he is as tough as they say he is, perhaps this will become a motivator.
I didn't even realize Pickett had reclassified back a year. Actually I didn't know that was possible. Wonder if his game has progressed. I'm a bit surprised Miznoz was interested. Tough to imagine that one working out well, but who knows.
As a follow-up, Griffin's re-ranking on Rivals moved his 247 composite score from 330ish to 214. Class ranking went from 26 to 24.
Well yeah, that's their whole recruiting strategy. Thought they got caught though.
Not exactly knowing how rankings are done, I'd have to assume theres some sort of combination of current skill/talent level, potential, and probability of success at the collegiate level.
Even though Griffin might be the best high school player in NY, it doesn't mean his game will translate well or improve in college as much as a guy like Moses Brown. It could also be that Griffin was a late bloomer and it's hard to move up boards quickly. As others have said, the difference between a player ranked 150 and 250 is much smaller than a guy ranked 50 and compared to 150.

Former target DJ Stewart also on that list, but for something else.. I wanted him in orange and blue real bad.
JR was All Freshmen team in the B1G. On the court play wasn't his issue.
My larger point was that you just never know. JR was probably the most hyped player to join the Illini in the last couple decades. We waited 4 years to actually see him in Orange and Blue, and I can't remember him ever starting a game.
Started 5 games of the 31 he played in.
I think most of the criticism of Bruce was for playing Bill Cole over JR for the majority of the season.
Golden on campus today for his visit?
He was very skilled and efficient around the basket.
People still point to Weber as the problem he wasn't more productive. Even after everything that transpired. The kid was just a problem that couldn't be kept under control. How do you reward him with more playing time when he wouldn't follow team rules? IIRC he was held out of games for disciplinary reasons.
Such a shame really. He could have made a great life for himself as an athlete. Hope someday he puts it together.
Edit: Didn't realize he is playing overseas now.
Richmond was a stud and Weber played Bill Cole over him.
Not sure if this update has been mentioned.. Griffin 247 composite ranking is 176. Tevian Jones composite ranking is 113 (not sure how he isn't in the top 100, considering 247 has him at 94, Rivals has him at 82, and ESPN lists him as a 4 star recruit but not in their top 100).
Does anyone know if any of our coaches will be in Dallas this weekend for the big AAU tournament & which recruits they will be watching? I have heard that Coach K & many others will be in town.
