He is a freaking sophomore. Jeebus. :tsk:

But he's not that good or athletic. He's a huge liability on defense. Hard pass for now. He's a streaky shooter at best with some height. Illinois can do better..

Agree. Very low ceiling imo.

I will keep watching him. He had more court awareness as a soph than Bowen will ever have. And anyone that tall as a soph that can actually handle the ball, shoot and know what to do with the ball when he gets it (ie-find the hot hand) will be very desirable if he fills out and improves the next two years.

I don't care if he's 3 years behind. He's in that class and will be elite in that class. Go get him.

Do you take ICL to gain a possible advantage? I didn't like him (tyger) yesterday, but did today. He is just at a big disadvantage with his height against the Big boys. Felt bad for him when they called him for a foul when the guy landed on him.

Make that 11 straight for Poole following an and-1 (and a dab for good measure). Terrence Lewis dunk expands PGE's lead to 9 now

Jordan Poole keeping PGE on top right now. 8 straight points for him on a pair of threes and a pull up jumper

Javon Pickett had 15 at half for Jets Ramey. Now checking out WI Playground Elite w/ Terrence Lewis & co.

Alonzo Verge w a great three play spurt. Three. Score. Steal, fake pass, layup

Just want to thank you for all the news you post here.

Pickett's on a mission, evidently. I'll gladly take T. Lewis. Never enough wings.

Michael Jordan was cut from the team in high school so this nonsense of giving up on someone their sophomore year is asinine. Obviously the topic of conversation probably isn't the next MJ nor is that what I'm saying but come on

That is a myth. Jordan was not cut from his high school team. That story has bothered his high school coach for years. Jordan did not make the varsity his sophomore year and played on the jv team that year. He was not cut from the team. Being cut means you are no longer on the basketball team. He was. Just not at the level he wanted that year. He was still in the program, though. He was not promoted from the jv team right away. Way different than being cut.

The teams that they've played at this tournament are on a completely different level than most of the teams that they've played before. They're in the final of this tourney, after beating two top 10 teams in the country.. Just remember that. Keep in mind how tired our players are when they play a couple of games against top teams almost back to back and think about how 16 and 17 years olds without elite strength and conditioning resources should fair in those similar conditions.

We'll just have to disagree about this. i just looked at their schedule for a second time today to make sure i didn't misread it first. i didn't misread it. they play a very tough national schedule. As a matter of fact they played 2 of the 7 other teams in this tourney during the regular season. getting revenge on a loss to St. Patrick's school earlier this year.

and during a tourney I never buy the we're tired because we played X number of games in a row. Because so has every opponent that you play. well at least during this tourney every team that advances plays the same number of games you play.

My only point was the two games I watched LaLu was manhandled on both the offensive and defensive glass.

La lu had a much shorter bench over the course of the year and this tournament in looking at box scores

I believe he was a sophomore along with another sophomore who sometimes played with the varsity team. From what I recall when it came to finalize the roster for the state tourney, Jordan was left off and his peer (Jackie Smith?) was chosen. I believe that Laney High School team won the state tourney. By his senior year Jordan was a MCAA and held the MCAA game scoring record for decades. So Jordan had a classmate who was considered a better option/player for the 12th spot on the varsity team as sophomores.

I read an article about this some time ago. His coach was quoted a lot, and he is still bothered by the myth of the "cut."

Random question: Does anyone have a schedule of AAU events in the area for the spring/summer? It seems pretty tough to find schedules of these things online.

He was cut from varsity essentially. Point being, stop giving up on the sophomore that was the topic. He might turn out to be a dang good player

I know it's semantics, but he wasn't cut. He was a sophomore who played on the sophomore team instead of the varsity. He was not promoted to varsity. That is not being cut. Being cut means you are no longer part of the program. I coached for over 20 years, and the players on the jv were not players who were cut. However, in Jordan's case, it makes a better story of perseverance. But, as I said, his high school coach has a real problem with that version.

here's a list of ny2la events. I'm sure there a lot of others such as EYBL but as to schedules and who'll be there, don't know until I see some guys like Burgess, Joe Hoops, Easterling etc start posting about where they're going to be on weekends.
