If Illinois has a class of Tilmon, Pickett, Williams, and Goodwin, Smith will be interested. He wants to play with top players. With his parents both being UI grads, I think they will give Illinois every opportunity.

I prefer Lewis, though.

The other upside of Lewis, besides just his skill, is that with him and Lucas it would start to give us a bit more of a presence up in Milwaukee. Could only help with future kids from the area.

Right. That's all I was saying from the beginning. I don't blame him - the program isn't exactly where any of us want it to be right now. Obviously though, if Smith has the chance to play with top talent, it becomes more of a draw again.

No reason to get down on the kid.

Goodwin was the player of the year in the metro east again this year. His quote at the end of the article was interesting:
---------------------------------------------
After next season, Goodwin will decide where, and perhaps what, he wants to play. He has basketball offers from Illinois, Missouri, Purdue, Kansas State, Wisconsin, St. Louis U. and others, and has a football offer from Iowa.

“I’ll wait it out. I’ll make (my decision) about a year from now,” Goodwin said. “I really don’t give it any thought. There’s a lot of options. I can see myself playing a lot of places.”"
---------------------------------------------
I knew he was going to wait until after the AAU season to see what offers he would pick up, but it would surprise me if he waited through his senior season. I think the offers will start pouring in and he will have a tough decision to make. I'm still pulling for the Illini, but the longer he waits, the more it hurts our chances in my opinion.

Blurb from Rivals article on Lewis. Should clear up his offer list. Would be a huge get despite his position, IMO.

Right on the border of three and four-star status, 6-foot-5 wing Terrence Lewis of Milwaukee (Wisc.) Riverside certainly passes the look test. Saturday, the Playground Elite standout's game passed the test as well. He attacked the rim and stroked some jumpers while also playing well defensively. Lewis listed offers from Xavier, Miami, Iowa State, Illinois, Purdue, Minnesota, Marquette and Wisconsin.

Well crap. It was too good to be true to think something positive was going to happen for this program anytime soon. I turning it over to baseball for awhile. Go Cards.

Yeah, the Williams commitment is yesterday's news. And let's ignore lots and lots of smoke about an impending Tilmon commitment. Looking forward to the Cards being the Cubs' caddy. And I'm not even a Cubs fan.

Guess that shuts down the rumors of him committing soon?

He has heard from Kansas and Notre Dame recently, so I think he knows, or at least hopes, the bigger offers will be coming. I never really thought he would commit anywhere before after the AAU season anyways.

Lewis and Justin Smith continuing to tear it up in AAU.

For a guy I was only vaguely aware of a week ago, I'd sure like to see Lewis sign up with us. In two games yesterday, and on the same team as Poole he scored 17 and 20 points.

Jon McNamara ‏@McNamaraRivals Mequon, WI 2017 G/F Terrence Lewis also having himself a very good weekend. Great frame, great shot and mechanics & plays under control.

and 25 today. Glad he was impressed with his visit.

Very little chance that Goodwin waits a year to announce. Kids say the darndest things. :)

Kentucky may be sniffing around too. He's a 4 year player they like to get every few years

I did a bad job of showing my sarcasm. I'm checking this site constantly to hear news about tilmon, Lewis, Goodwin and others. Yes I'm a Cards fan and as great as the Cubs are...we'll probably be able to compete. Back to the point I'm excited about the class of 17 and hoping to hear something soon. Very excited about Williams and Pickett as we'll.

OK. You and me both, brother. If Groce brings this class home, we'll be back to where we want to be in relatively short order.

Watching Josh Hart destroy OU yesterday, I kept thinking about Jordan Goodwin. Here's Hart's bio from Villanova:

A tough wing player with the skill to score in multiple ways ... Rebounds well from the guard position ... Brings a superior work ethic with him each time out ... Extremely versatile and should be used in a variety of ways by the coaching staff.

Anybody who's seen Goodwin think Hart is a decent comparison?

I believe Hart is a couple inches taller than Goodwin, and Hart shoots it better. Goodwin might be better in the post and getting to the rim. Rebounding is probably similar.
