Hope Jeremiah a full recovery. I believe he will miss the AAU circuit this summer to focus on physical therapy and getting back to normal function. I'm sure after 3-4 months of PT and individual workouts he can return to Lalu for their almost year round bb training.

Michael Jordan was cut from the team in high school so this nonsense of giving up on someone their sophomore year is asinine. Obviously the topic of conversation probably isn't the next MJ nor is that what I'm saying but come on

NOT TRUE!!!! He did not make varsity in his sophomore year. He did play JV...

PS -- lots of people beat me to it. Being CUT means you are no longer on any team. He was never on the varsity so he couldn't get "cut".

Now -- the comment that players can make improvements after their sophomore year -- we all would agree with that. But not sure Jordan is a good example -- very much an outlier.

here's a list of ny2la events. I'm sure there a lot of others such as EYBL but as to schedules and who'll be there, don't know until I see some guys like Burgess, Joe Hoops, Easterling etc start posting about where they're going to be on weekends.

Thanks Mike. I usually end up relying on tweets from the guys you mentioned. I wonder where they get the info? Maybe direct from coaches?

I'm sure there are detailed schedules and stuff but you probably don't see them unless you pay a fee of some kind. Unless you're a college coach.

I personally believe the injury hurts are chances with Tilmon not because other teams were gonna back off but if it was really true he was visiting next weekend or around then.I believe he will spend the next few weeks on the injury and will postpone the possible decision.
Also I wanna know where we stand with Justin Smith , Nojel Eastern and Alonzo Verge.

That's the issue with being 1st and goal from the 2 ... You're expected to score and any new variable can only hurt.

Anybody know what's the current situation with Verge? What AAU team is he on? What HS will he be at next year? Are we completely done with our recruiting with him or is it cooled to see how his situation shakes out? Seemed like an electric talent, but some questions about his maturity and ability to play under control.

Right now, there is very little chance that JSmith is considering Illinois. That can obviously change (insert recruiting is fluid note) but at this moment, when I asked someone close to the situation about it, the response was:
"Would you consider Illinois right now?"

My guess is that if a Tilmon, Williams, Goodwin trifecta emerges, it'd be easier to persuade Smith to play with that crew.

Alonzo Verge says he is currently going to Proviso West after transfer from ACD. Unsure of next year. Proviso East possible he says

In my experience, it seems that once an athlete separates a shoulder, it is much easier for it to be a reoccurring injury to the athlete. I have had baseball players suffer the injury and I believe that each of them did it on more than one occasion. Hope this is not true for the big guy!

I don't think it is accurate to say Justin Smith won't consider Illinois until we get better players. Last time I saw we have several top 100 players on the team and committed recruits. I don't think JSmith is a priority as a big, I think CNegron is favored over him. Regarding Tilmon, If he was going to commit to Illinois I don't think the injury impacts this. I do think it will cause the schools on the fence (UK, UNC, Kansas) to possibly back off. Also wonder if staff gives Froling a call following the Fernando (top 50) big just committed to SMU. I believe this is the 3rd top 50 big to SMU for 2016 class.

Smith is better than Negron.

Lewis is better than both of them. IMO

Let's just hope the Tillmon injury hold anything back for Tillmon announcement because I pretty sure he will get healed and add some weight this year

Sounds like it was actually a dislocation which is very different from a separation. You are correct though that a dislocation is more apt to reoccur since the ligaments that hold the ball in the socket are weakened. I am no medical expert, just speaking from experience as I have dislocated mine 20 times over the years. Meyers Leonard is dealing with same injury now for the second time. He had dislocated his shoulder earlier in the season and now is having surgery.

It looks like Verge is following in his Dad's footsteps. I hope it pays off for him. Hopefully Proviso West can use his talents and showcase him well.

Ok, let me be more clear. The Smiths do not think highly about what is going on with the program at this time - from the play on the court to the crap off the court. About the only thing that might entice them back is the potential of Justin playing with elite talent.

You may not think that's accurate and that's your prerogative, but that is what I'm hearing from Smith's 'people.'

Where are Smith's people say he is leaning?

Oh well. Smith is good but he's not a position of need. He's a back up plan to the back up plan.

I think JSmith has a good game, but over the years I just get ticked off when athletes or students think they are too good for U of I. He can take his talents to Purdue or a mid-major if that is his attitude. Negron strikes me as a Morrow type, an undersized 4 that will be effective at the next level due to his motor.

Come on. The kid has a valid point to not wanting to come to Illinois. You have to be sold by Groce's vision to want to come here after the past couple of years. Some have bought into it, and many have not. It's nothing against the kid for believing that he could have better options.

+1

Well put.

If Illinois has a class of Tilmon, Pickett, Williams, and Goodwin, Smith will be interested. He wants to play with top players. With his parents both being UI grads, I think they will give Illinois every opportunity.

I prefer Lewis, though.
