What's worse, an 18 year old having some poor taste fun with his announcement, or college to middle age men ragging on a kid on social media? It's funny, as a fan base we're more than willing to give a player a 2nd chance after committing a crime (whether it's assault, robbery, underage drinking), but some people will never forgive a kid for picking up the wrong hat.

You certainly got that right. While it was in poor taste, it was just a kid having some fun.
I see Alexander is on the Trailblazers roster.

Not burning bridges and going out of your way to dump on people? That is exactly what many fans did to Cliff on twitter. Other recruits see that stuff and it hurts Illinois in a negative way.

But social media, good or bad, is extremely low on the list of most recruits reasons for committing or not committing to a school.

Out of curiosity to this (repeated debate) I Googled "Does social media factor into high school recruits college choice"?

The results of some studies were pretty interesting. While other factors such as relationships with coaching staffs, academics, size of college, and student life are bigger factors. Social media and fan bases do weigh in more and more. it can be used as a sway or tie breaker nowadays. with it growing more and more.

Most people 35 and older "just don't get it" as much as the youmger generations do.

I'm an old guy and believe that social media can be leveraged or misused...good fan judgement can't be underestimated.

It's funny that most people will choose to ignore this spot on post and continue with their hypocritical behavior.

Well, if I disrespected my home state team like that with my father sitting anywhere near me, he woulda boxed my ears and made me apologize right there and then. Likewise my two boys. I don't care at all if he picked Kansas, he just never should have done what he did. :thumb:

Back then I was too busy walking to school barefooted uphill both ways in the snow to do anything like this.

Your dad sounds like he needs to work on not getting angry for terrible reasons. :)

What does the home state team have to do with it? Would your pappy be ok with disrespecting the out of state team?

Either way, college basketball and high school recruits need to change how they do things. We need more decisions in life that consider the 40 to 70 year olds. That is our future after all.

My dad woulda whooped me for acting like a spoiled rotten jacka** on national television, regardless of the team.

On the Damonte Williams interview which players does he mention that he is trying to bring in? I just heard Christian Negron and it was more the interviewer leading the answers. Was there any mention of Goodwin or Tilmon?

He didn't mention them. It was misleading.
