He wasn't a priority so I understand why we were left off.. but I think that is my biggest issue with this staff. We prioritize guys that have little chance of coming here so then we struggle getting guys in the next tier and end up having to settle on guys in an even lower tier.

If true, I'd think that would be particularly troublesome at this stage in the process. We don't know where he was on the list, so I'm not going to speculate. I'd like to think that someone would be interested in signing while the opportunity is good, and we would take it. It's still early, but I'm not wanting to have a repeat of last year. Lotta deals gonna get done over the next two months, and the thought of a chaotic cycle makes me cringe.

Isn't Jalen Hill the guy that said his Daddy was a huge Illini fan. Also, didn't he just visit?
Yep. And, yep.

Piper has already crystal balled to DePaul. Am I missing something here? Since when is DePaul considered a basketball destination? They were awful last year against Illinois.
DePaul has suddenly become a player in national recruitments... Hmmmmmmm

Good recruiters always get better players than the program deserves. Many posters believe that having a better showing than last year will automatically open the flood gates of recruiting. That is not necessary true. As posted before, Weber had great success early on(with Self's recruits), but recruiting suffered. Winning helps (but is also dependent on recruiting), but at the end it comes down to whether you are a good (hopefully great) recruiter or not.

We still need a great fall 2019 recruiting class. Still some time, but not hard to admit that we are not off to a great recruiting start so far.

Add Timme to cover the transfer.
I’d take Timme or Jacobs. We’ll see who we get interest from and who we don’t. The fact that our four OVs so far are Liddell, Tshiebwe, Jitoboh and Guerrier tells me they’re most likely to come here.

One of those four are not like the others. Really think we're longshots for the highly coveted three. Same with Timme. Would be ecstatic to be surprised. As to Jacobs, we don't have a big need. Better fit at lots of other schools.

We only need one of those guys for this class to be considered a success so there's certainly hope despite the unfortunatslowlo start. Hopefully one of those guys can see the opportunity for PT and filling in the hole for what could be a pretty good team.

I coached against Jacobs in the 2nd round of the state playoffs this past year. Take into account my team doesn't have a player above 6'1 nor did I have a player who could even play Division 3 ball. Granted they were a gritty bunch who played above their talent level but my takeaways of jacobs were this.....First glance he is maybe 5'8 at best. Very good leaping ability and athleticism for his size. Decent shot. Honestly speaking I walked away some what baffled how he even garnered Kansas attention let alone a scholly. Maybe it was bc of inferior talent playing him but his motor was lacking and did not look engaged except for the couple cherry picking highlight reel dunks he had towards the end of the first half. I can't say I have had too many opportunities to coach against potential Kansas jayhawk recruits but that was my honest assessment.

Thank you for this. This will help for when he commits to DePaul so we can say that we didn't want him anyway.

If we don’t get a few top players in 2019, we are looking “just wait until 2021 year”

With Miller a very real possibility, do we really NEED him? Frazier and DaMonte would be juniors and Ayo a sophomore. Need to get Miller though....

The fact that you are saying he was 5'8" at best and had highlight reel dunks only makes me want him more. I mean, Nate Robinson is the only dude I have heard of who's that short and has the insane athleticism to still be able to dunk a basketball. So either your height estimation is pretty off or you are way underestimating this kid's potential.
