If we manage to pull in Tilmon and Goodwin are we a top 4 B1G team their freshmen year?

I know there are others, like Damonte, but do all think that we would get back to where we all want to be with Tilmon, Goodwin and Pickett?

Depends a lot on how JCL, DJW, Finke, etc. progress. If they become upper-tier B1G players, plus multiple impact freshmen? Top 4 is not out of the realm of possibility.

Probably not. I think the aim would be to return to a stable and successful place their sophomore year when JCL, AJ, DJW and Finke are seniors, Lucas is a junior and your talented 2017 class are all sophomores.

Though, this scenario requires a lot of faith in the 2017 rumors beyond just Damonte Williams being true.

We would be better than that if he were here, but your point remains.

I think he'd be more of a focal point and be putting up bigger numbers in his freshman season. I also think he'd have us at least back on the bubble.

However I'd personally rather be starting as a freshman on the #1 team in the country. But as long as I'm dreaming, I'd also want that #1 team to be Illinois.

I think it has a lot to do with how TJL adapts to the college game. I believe that Finke, DJW and JCL are well on their way to being solid players and above once Juniors. I still think AJ is a big question mark as well. He could potentially have the largest Sophomore leap out of the group. He is a tireless worker and will know what he needs to improve on to excel at this level.

Speak about "transfer back", isn't it about time for some MLV, jr rumors or if Pastner doesn't make it at Memphis, how about Charlie Moore? :D

I actually spoke to someone who is very tight with Charlie's group. He is seriously regretting not picking his home school. He will look to get out of his commitment, should Pastner get fired.

Small ball with Lucas at PG, Moore at SG, JCL at the 3, Nunn at 4, and Hill at the 5(good thing he's already got some experience there :thumb:) We'll have the size of a high school team!

Not out of the question, since Nick Irvin has been rumored to be a candidate if anything happens to Groce.:D

This was after Saturday's loss to USF. 10 mil is a huge buyout and would probably prevent his firing, but man would I love to see Charlie in O&B.

Memphis just lost to South Florida -- which means the Tigers competed The Trifecta: Have lost this season to East Carolina, Tulane and South Florida -- bottom 3 teams in American. Josh Pastner's group is now 15-12 and 6-8 in league play -- and his job clearly in question. Pastner's buyout still in excess of $10 million.

After listening to D Piper on tay and jay this week, it sounds like once a vote of confidence is given to JG then there won’t be much stopping Williams from committing.

Granted, if blue bloods come swooping in, who knows...

Any ideas on this - Chances of JG getting a vote of confidence from JW any time soon? When would it be announced publicly? I feel like the longer this holds out, the better the chances of others coming in and getting in these recruits ears.

Perhaps Fed Ex can pay the buyout and ship Pastner out of town all in one move.

I haven't seen them play at all this year. What is their problem, do they have injuries, no talent or just a flat out bad team?

A $10 million buyout? And we were interested in their AD? Goodness gracious.

Tilmon would certainly help, but Goodwin isn't the type of recruit to put us over the top as a freshman. Don't get me wrong, he's a great player, and the type Illinois needs to nail down regularly, but it's not like he's some 5* who's going to come in and steal playing time from established veterans. He would be a very good 4 year player for us, I hope we land him.:thumb:

2018 PG COURTNEY RAMEY ONE OF THE BEST IN THE COUNTRY

A potential “special” talent with impact potential at both the next level and perhaps beyond, Ramey handles it, he can dominate as a playmaker, and he has an advanced skill set that allows him to take over the game scoring the basketball as well. Ramey can score off the dribble in traffic, finish in a variety of ways with jumpers, floaters, and runners at the mid-range level, and he can stretch the floor and rip the nets from beyond the arc off the dribble, spotting up in transition, or in a catch and shoot capacity in half court sets. Not just an offensive weapon, Ramey takes pride in his ability to fill the box score and when you combine that with excellent defensive prowess in terms of reading the passing lanes, solid feel and instincts in terms of positioning off the ball defensively, and improving on the ball lock down skills, it’s easy to see why Courtney is becoming one of the most coveted sophomores in the country, politics notwithstanding.

not too many recruits can be game changers as freshmen a la Ben Simmons (and even LSU struggles), however when you have depth at the collegiate level it means a lot. PRactices are more competitive and iron sharpens iron and they serve as strong ancillary pieces to guys like JCL, Finke, and DJW as theyre older players.

Am assuming Groce takes another run at Charlie Moore if he becomes a free agent, yes? Gonna have to finesse TJL, but competition is a fact of life in high D1. If Williams commits before Moore hits the market, does that alter things?
