Jordan Goodwin

Indiana appears the biggest threat to landing Goodwin, and their coach might be making the comparisons of Goodwin to DWADE. But Indiana are
also pursuing higher ranked in-state players at the same position.
So it may come down to who are the best programs and what is their availibility and priority.

Illinois appears to be making him a priority, our disadvantage is having several WF in that position and not making the Tourney the past 3 years.

By the time Goodwin would get here both Malcolm and nunn would be graduated so he'd get plenty of PT especially considering his talent.

Werner said on Tay & Jay show today that he & Piper taliked to some people close to the Tilmon recruitment and asked if they thought he'd stop by Champaign on his way back home. Werner said their answer was that they don't think we need him to. They also said they don't even know who else is recruiting him because Illinois was so much in the drivers seat.
Would be really nice to wrap that up, if not this weekend, really really soon. Letting Goodwin go through AAU scares me a lot.

As evident by the PU game, Tilmon's talents are sorely needed I the Illini front court. He would be "The Man" the minute he steps foot on campus.

Dayum Manual looked good in those highlights. Can't wait to get Damonte in Champaign.

No just a really skilled player from a small school.

Agreed. Is a pleasure to watch -- truly understands the game and can hit just about any shot. Only a junion.

Will watch again today but I didn't think Chastain is a high d1 player either. Good - yes. Skilled - yes. Athletic - yes. But against people his own size... just not sure.

It's hard to say for sure. But i have said before that if there's any kids worth taking a shot on. It's kids from Illinois. Illinois is great competition and there's always kids that end up somewhere else and light it up in college and we wonder how we missed on them. At worst, someone has to be at the end of the bench so...

At least 10 coaches so far think Chastain is a D-1 player, including Utah, Utah St, Ilinois State, Furman, Penn and Loyola. LeRoy played a much better team in the SuperSectional on Tuesday than they did yesterday, one that had a front line of 6-7, 6-6, 6-6 and a 6-3 point guard and had only lost two games all year, both to 4A teams and Chastain shredded them. 21 points in the first half and 34 for the game. He's just a fun kid to watch play -- incredible hops, great shooter, plays D. Maybe not a B1G player but he'll play D1 and do pretty well IMHO. Going to stop watching college BB for an hour and a half at 2:00 to watch him today.

Agreed -- one game (especially at state / nerves / opponent / etc.) and you could see some ability. And definitely fun to watch. Feel this weekend (1A and 2A and conference championships) and next week (3A and 4A and NCAA) are best weekends of the year!

Weird I am hearing that SLU and an SEC school are the biggest threat. I asked about Indiana and was told that he isn't really considering them. I guess the saying is true and recruiting is fluid as I heard this from someone who talked to him about 2 weeks ago.

You think SLU still in it after firing their coach?

Well SLU fired Crews, so I'd imagine it all depends on who they hire. With no knowledge whatsoever I would guess that the SEC school is either Mizzou because of their footprint in that area, or Arkansas because of Mike Anderson and his time at mizzou.

It's obvious they can't. Just ask Damien Lilliard, cj McCollum and Meyers Leonard

Didn't jake kelly make one of the all B1G teams (I wanna say 2nd team) while he was at iowa? He played highschool ball in Marshall before going to prep school.

Edit: Just checked, it was honorable mention, in 08-09. Also won B1G player of the week twice that season

Reason SLU is in it and will remain is how close it is to his home town. His dad doesn't miss any of his games. He will want to stay close to home so dad can continue to go to games. Vandy is who I am hearing about. Coach Stallings is from the area and his family knows him but that's a 5 hour drive so might be a little too far from home. I really hope the coaches can lock him up really soon (also hope SLU doesn't hit a HR with their hire).

Wonder if the staff would have any interest in re-recruiting kevin zabo as a pg out of the juco ranks. We had interest as a high schooler, he ended up going to sdsu and then transferring to Indian hills juco in iowa for this season, and is supposed to be looking to jump back to D1 for his last 2 years.

Don't know if he or the staff would have interest. I just noticed SDSU was getting ready to tip off and it made me wonder what happened to him. A quick Google search and here I am. If tate gets dismissed it would be nice to have another pg for depth.

Coming from JUCO he wouldn't have to sit a year, correct? I'll have to search his stats. If he performed well, why not?

Here are his stats at IH.

FG 47.5
3FG 34
ATO 2.8
FT 75
RB 1.8
PPG 6.8
pp40 15
Suspensions 0 ;)

Have you actually watched him/Manual play? You MAY be right about PG play in college..hard to say and does not matter as he is too multi-talented to care imo. However, there is zero doubt he IS the main PG for Manual and I guarantee you Derrick Booth would say the same.

I was at the game tonight (at last 3 of 4 Manual games) and he dominated while ONLY scoring 20 pts. His passing, rebounding, defense (both blocks and steals) and ball-handling were huge tonight. It was like watching a D1 player against high-schoolers. Oh, and he has absolutely superior athleticism on a 6'4" frame.

I was at the game and this is a very good assessment. Williams was a stud out there. Basically a home game for Manual, the place was rockin!

He likely would have had a lot more points had they run more offense for jump shooters.. The majority of the scoring happened around the basket.

Couldn't get off the bench at SDSU and they desparately needed a point guard.
