Oklahoma St. expected to part ways with Travis Ford. Here come the Juwan Evans transferring to UI rumors. :thumb:

Chastain and Leroy beat Leo (who recruits) 38-35 in the 1A championship game. Chastain scored 21.

Weird I am hearing that SLU and an SEC school are the biggest threat. I asked about Indiana and was told that he isn't really considering them. I guess the saying is true and recruiting is fluid as I heard this from someone who talked to him about 2 weeks ago.

Thats inaccurate... Not even considering SLU, looking at top tier B1G programs right now, along with Illinois. He is close with Tilmon and is getting to know Damonte though, so there is hope. He seemed incredibly excited about the Indiana offer when I talked to him this week. Maybe the Indiana loss in the tourney and the recruiting momentum for ILL will bring these guys to Champaign

Couldn't get off the bench at SDSU and they desparately needed a point guard.

We wouldn't need him to start with tracy and TJL here, just thinking about depth if JT gets dismissed. He put up decent stats at juco, but its juco...

I've mentioned it a couple of times already, so I'll just say this and then shut up.

I watched both of Chastain's games and there's little doubt in my mind that he's a B1G caliber player. I think he possess the skills to be a better point guard than anyone that played it for us this year.

Please JG, offer this kid so we don't have to watch him kill us for the next four years.

I'd never heard of this kid until yesterday and I don't know anyone that did.

Did you watch him commit 10 turnovers the other day against a 1a team? He's not a point guard, and won't be at the next level, which will likely be the MVC anyway. I was wrong about his athleticism, definitely an athletic kid, but it would be a gamble for a B1G program to take him.

Michael Orris is on schedule to graduate in May...just sayin :)

He is a wing, not a point. You watched him against 1A competition. He has one high major offer. Utah. He will play somewhere, but I doubt if it is in the BT.

I don't believe him to be a PG either, but of those 10 turnovers, it is a little misleading. He gets TO on bad pass from teammate, then a couple where he was fouled - officiating in that game was awful; they called nothing - and then had a five-second call. My point is, most weren't forced turnovers, but you point is correct; he is a wing not a PG. Great athlete though. Saw him play last year and knew he was something special then.

I wonder if Jawun is questioning his decision at this point... Really, really wanted him (as did all of us). Oh well. :noidea:

Kudos to him! If more of these players accepted the fact that basketball could be a realistic means to an end, rather then a fraction of a chance at playing pro (at any level), they'd be much better off. Besides that, having Orris at the end of our bench this year might have been a very good thing. I know you were joking, but, just saying... ;)

Considering recent events I think it would be a great idea to offer both if we have free spots. Chastain is going to be a good college players somewhere and I would rather it be us than Utah or Iowa or Purdue. Kid is a baller and could play the point for us,already has a better handle of the ball than MH. Would be the perfect kid to offer and redshirt like they did Fine to add some strength.

He's an intriguing player, I'll give you that. But play the point for us, and already have a better handle than Malcolm Hil? That makes me think you might be related or something. He's got great size and a nice jumper with good hops, but he's legit playing intramural talent.

I'm going by just what I read, your info is likely better. My concern is that Crean would make the comparision of DWade to Jordan, especially if there was mutual interest.

Jordan style does remind me of DWade, but I believe Jordan is more impactful at the same stage.

On the DWade note, who can name the 4-5 playes ranked ahead of him instate that year?

Does Reo Logan ring a bell.

Yes, I know what game and class I was watching, but thanks for pointing it out. :thumb: As mentioned in another response to Newman, he could have played point for us this year and not been any worse than what we had.

Not a chance he could have played the point effectively this year in the BT.

Not saying I wouldn't want him on my team, but he would be a turnover machine at the point.

And the difference between 1A basketball and the BT is huge. He said after the game that the kid from Leo was the best player he had ever played against. That kid is not even a D-1 prospect, much less a BT prospect. Chastain is a D-1 prospect but not at the point.

He has characteristics that are intriguing. He's a good shooter with terrific elevation on his jumper. He can jump really high. He has a decent handle on the ball. The biggest concern is speed and quickness, which in my opinion are the most important athletic attributes of a basketball player. 1A competition just doesn't move as fast or quick as 4A competition. His basketball skills become more effective with the space he can create between him and his defender. Can he keep a player in front of him on defense? It's tough to judge.

He seems to be smart kid. I think intelligence is an underrated quality in players. I have heard coach K say the first really good class he recruited was a collectively bright bunch. He felt good students in the classroom made for good students on the court and those kids made an easier transition to college .

does he play AAU ball? If so for whom? Not that AAU is the be all and end all, but at least gives another point of reference.....

A Tilmon commitment would solve a lot of problems.
