Tilmon

I like what I'm hearing from unofficial sources regarding Tilmon. But I won't celebrate until he enrolls. I never thought we led for Alexander, but apparantly the Urbana/Champaign media was led to beleive he was ours. Possible Alexander led our coaches to beleive he was coming.

But I lived through the 90's when we had players such as Jamie Brandon and Thomas Hamilton Sr. on campus but left prior to fall school semester starting. Brandon was a top 5-10 and Hamilton was a top 50. There is probably more, but those are the ones I remember.

ILL in IA

Iowa City
Dunno, but MLT had to redshirt this year in order to do the graduate transfer thing next year, so it may make sense rthat he needs a release.
I'm not positive, but I think Mike did that because he wanted to finish and get a degree at Illinois. He could have transferred and sat out his year at whatever smaller school he chose to go to. But that would mean he got his degree from that school as well.

Both of those were for academic reasons. Brandon did not pass the Bridge Program and ended up at LSU. Hamilton ended up at Pitt.

I don't think Tilmon is the same academic risk from what I have heard. But I totally agree. Let's get him on campus and enrolled and practicing in the fall. Of 2017. :)

If he is a walk-on, why does he need to be granted a release?

Even if you walk on you still have to be released from the basketball program to go play somewhere else. Walk ons are held to the same situations as scholarship players

The reality is that he's making all the right noises about Illinois, which is causing rumors to swirl. Including one rumor that other teams are backing off because he likes us so much. Are these rumors true? Who knows.
Where there's smoke, right? Man, I really am hoping big-time on this one.

Chances against the field are generally well under 50% for virtually all recruits, Tilmon included.

We may have as good a chance as anyone, but I wouldn't bet on him coming here.

If recruits were flipping coins to decide what college they were going to then this would make sense.

Yep, Hamilton was ineligible and was denied admission into UI. He did go to Pitt (was admitted) despite being ineligible to play, but he only stayed at Pitt a few weeks, dropped out and returned home to Chicago.

Goodwin liking my I-L-L tweet after being seemingly against liking anything of that nature. Realistically probably nothing but interesting none the less.

All 3A and 4A supers are on here tonight, including Williams and Goodwins. Costs 9.95. Quick signup.
After first quarter Rockford Boylan 16, Manual 15. Williams opened game with a 3 pointer, still has 3 points, one block, one steal.

oh, and for me anyway, if you're thinking of paying for the one night, Chrome works fine, Firefox not so much.

Halftime: Manual 35, Boylan 32. Williams 9 points on 3 3-pointers. (Might've missed one while checking out St. Joseph game. Rako riding the bench with 2 fouls but Joe's still beating Ridgewood 24-15.)

Manual wins 61-58 but they were horrendous at the line until they made 2 with 4 seconds left. Great game though.
