agree with this....when the last time you saw an Illini guard or wing turn the corner, drive the basket and dunk?....remember watching kendall gill as a frosh do just that off the dribble from the top of key....flying illini barely topped out 6'6 across the board but had great run and jump athletes

Aaron Jordan did this just a couple of weeks ago.

im honored!! usually my posts are ignored or mercelously drubbed into submission. OSU might be an NIT team but in the past they have had
that same athleticism and been more sucessfull. maybe Cincinnati is a better example?

DJW did it once this year as well. Thats about it really.

which goes to the broader point...the overall athleticism of this team suggests that missing the Dance and even the NIT is not a coincidence....as an aside, if they switch malcolm to the point like Izzo did with valentine he would do himself a world of good at this level and hopefully the next, to work hard on his elevation and explosiveness..hes got everything else going for him

When you lose 3 starters for the year to injury its no coincidence you dont make either one. On a related note however, all three of those players are upgrades athletically at each position. As well as talent.

Perhaps I'm not parsing this well, and if so, apologies, but how would moving him to the point improve his elevation and explosiveness?

I think this one is a better one...http://www.msuspartans.com/sports/m-baskbl/mtt/msu-m-baskbl-mtt.html .considering that they run a really similar offensive scheme and teach the same principles. Long lean 4s and 5s that run the floor like gazelles are JG's calling card with his want to push pace. Those players at the 4 and 5 who can screen, roll out and pic and pop and stretch the floor and leave the middle for driving and movement are the ones he seems to like and fit his scheme. Who are the Big 6' 10 wide bodies and bangers that he has been in on in the past? Keep posting wil, keeps the conversation lively

Just looking at rivals and surprised there are 8 centers in the top 30 2017 players...that seems like a relatively large percentage...

Hope Da'Monte has been reading MOB's twitter feed today. Should have him coming out with a bit of fire tomorrow. https://twitter.com/michaelsobrien
Also trash-talked him on yesterday's NoShotClock, for which Joe told him he was crazy.
btw, Javon made AP 4A first team all-state and Da'Monte made AP 3A first team all-state today.

On the same Twitter feed, an interesting NCAA tidbit: 52 players from Illinois high schools are participating in the tournament--3rd most from any state--but no universities from Illinois are in. Pretty sad when you consider it.

Yeah, seems like some incredibly uninformed tweets from MOB. I guess he did not think Livingston was worthy back in the day because his stats were held down by being a multi-talented PG on a talented team. The Da'monte I have seen the past few weeks is not only all-state but the best player in the state. He was easily the best player player in the game against Bloomington and only the second leading scorer for his team in that game. How can people stay in the business this long by so uninformed? This just highlights why I have always preferred Henrickson to O'Brien.

His argument is incredibly flawed. By his logic, DW would be more deserving if he forced more shots. His primary job isn't to be the lead scorer or rebounder, it's to run the offense, and make those surrounding him better players putting them in good position to score. I guess the assists, steals, and his defense in general has no weight to MOB.

Exactly. And what a strawman to use rebounds as one of his two criteria for evaluating a point guard. Oh, he is second on the team in that stat and a close second in scoring as well. Da'monte does it all and is one of the best players from this area in a while.

Not directed at you specifically Bizzy, bu I always find it interesting whenever lack of height is brought up, inevitably the '89 team is brought up. It is usually pointed out how Lowell was only 6'7", and Battle listed generously at 6'6". Granted, that is a relatively short front court.

However, people often miss, or fail to mention is we had distinct a height advantage at the 1 &2. For sure at pg with Bardo at 6'6"+, usually at SFG with Gill. Even match up at SF with Nick usually. It was a very unique team in that every starter was 6'5-6'7"

As mentioned, not busting you personally, but if we were to recreate that team,Minot is sheer talent and athleticism, but in consistent height, we would be a pretty decent team IMO.
