Illinois has been hurt by recruiting misses and nails in coffins. I would like to see Tilmon commit to Illinois, but I'm holding my breath and waiting for official word.

Seems like momentum is shifting Illinois' way and that's a good thing. Just have to keep up the positive vibes. The CB switch by Meyer is a darn good sign and I'm excited about that. Hopefully, others follow suit and the dominoes fall.

While I agree that most recruits would reconsider where they would play I think some are pretty set in what school they truly want to play for. I thought Williams might be one of those like what Hill was. I don't think Hill cared who became coach he was coming here.

We're still in good shape, just no commitment this week I'm told.

Were we even expecting one this week? At least today through Sunday right?

Wasn't the timeline next week at the earliest?

According to sources, Tillman is ready to commit, but is waiting for other things to shake out first. He heard about some kid named Chastain and wants to make sure he still has a committable scholarship offer. :)

Just got home and watched the DVRed La Lu vs St. Benedict's game.

Holy cow Bowen is really good. It would be awesome if we were on his radar. I know we're recruiting him as is everyone else and their mothers. He's the real deal.

Tomorrow being April Fool's Day, I get the feeling that these "insiders" posting Tilmon is committing soon are actually Wisconsin, Indiana and Michigan fans putting together the most elaborate April Fool's joke. They even got Jerry Meyer and his crystal balls in on the action.

I've got the bottle of tequila ready for a celebratory shot though in case this is an April Christmas for us Illini hoops fans.

Can we ban ever using the term "Christmas" as a descriptive word for the potential of a top recruit commitment.

Yup, Iowa too, plus Bruce flying in to see him.
So if iowa or purdue offers, he will be officially "B10 caliber" right? But he's not B10 caliber until he gets the first B10 offer (from a team other than UofI)....at least that's how I understand it.

Would rather have a player like Lewis so we can redshirt a 17 like Pickett than Chastain who probably wont see playing time at his first year and with everyone potentially coming in probably not his second either.

So the grand answer to our recruiting woes is to do it the Calipari way. Mmmkay.

And have patience to get the job done, but also give up on the guy who is working hard (and possibly starting to gain recruiting traction).

We're wing rich, and big poor. IF we have a scholly availiable it probably will go to a post player id imagine

I think you got it right. Also you have to remember the Double Standard Rule. Lewis doesn't have an offer from a Big Ten school other than Illinois, but you get an exemption if you're from out of state or play higher than 1A ball. Therefore, Lewis is also Big Ten caliber.
