Mark Smith has an old school college game that I really like. Not surprised others have come to offer and see him, I don't care about rankings he has the tools. He also has other intangibles that help teams win, like "smarts" and competitive nature.

Would be awesome to team him up with the other committed recruits.

If Whitman hires the right man, I personally think Frazier stays committed. However, for the sake of discussion, let's say Whitman hires a new coach, Frazier decommits, but Mark Smith quickly develops a relationship w/ new coach and commits shortly after. How would you all feel about that? Net gain/loss?

Hopefully net gain by virtue of hiring the right coach. We do that and one or two players won't matter.

Maybe JT is secretly hoping for a coaching change and then waits to see who we get before deciding whether to stay on board or get out of his NLOI. I can't imagine that he could be excited at the thought of playing for this coach.

I wouldn't expect him to be coming here. The coaching situation is way too much of an unknown at this point for any additional recruits to come on board unless they come to play for Illinois and not the coaching staff. Groce is also more focused on fixing this team than recruiting these days.

Man I would hate to be in his situation. Get recruited by a guy and be extremely excited to get to campus and play for him. But before you get there every fan is telling you that that coach will not be there because he's gonna be fired. That would suck.

I've talked with a bunch of people close to situations and I'll give a quick run down.

-I get the feeling Northwestern leads for smith.

-You may lose a guy or two if Groce gets canned but we also may gain someone if the right coach is hired (Tim Finke?)

-Tracy Webster was at east side last night (smith, tilmon)
At O'Fallon today. (Pickett, Williams). A LOT of speculation going around that he isn't here recruiting for Cal. TIFWIW.
