Whitman is involved in Goodwin's recruitment? Don't think so.
Lovie then Tilmon. He has a role just like any other AD. I repeat, in Whitman I trust.

That's not entirely true. In certain situations with the right personnel, it works. In others, it doesn't. If you're going to be a wing-heavy team, you need guys that can handle the ball, pass, shoot, rebound, and defend multiple positions. The Flyin' Illini team was great because of their defensive energy, quickness, and versatility. Can't have too many wings. ie, Flyin Illini, and this years Olympic team.
Gotta believe that's what the staff is pushing for. Hopefully it happens. As far as I have heard Goodwin hasn't set up any visits yet but have to think it will be soon as most everyone else is doing so. Look for September 9-11 as a possible weekend for a visit to Champaign with the Night time atmosphere the football game should bring in.

2 more flipped their CB to SLU. That makes 3. Waiting to see what the big dogs do.
Whatever SLU offered him has his immediate ear. In Whitman I trust.
Later in this video, Verge dribbles the ball off his defender's face. I don't think I'm not a fan of someone who would intentionally hit someone in the face with a basketball, even if it wasn't all that hard.
just need LuckyLeft to come in and completely burst our bubble and say Goodwin to SLU is happening .. Stu has been right on lately so I have no reason to doubt him
How does picking a smaller school cause him to lose all his winning traits? If anything, playing at SLU could strengthen those traits because he would truly have to carry them in order to have any success.
There is no way to know what Goodwin's perspective is. Of course we think picking Illinois over SLU is easy...because we are ILLINI FANS. Goodwin's decision is probably much tougher than we think it should be.
I'm not saying the no official visits info is wrong, I have no idea, but it doesn't seem to line up with the "show me the love" personality that we've been fed from those around JGood.
Unless there are extenuating circumstances (family, etc.) I equate picking a smaller school as backing down from challenge and competition. I would rather he pick Alabama or Mizzou than SLU and even that would be a stretch.
This is turning into a curious recruitment (aren't they all?) to say the least. We've got a player who fans and media are obsessed with because he does whatever it takes to win (a trait that somehow seems to have become underrated in this day and age) with a lower ranking and even lower quality of schools recruiting him.
Well, Goodwin retweeted this yesterday so maybe Avery Johnson will swoop in and take JGood from Travis who swooped in and ... whatever. Avery gets all 5 of those guys and he will have a Fab Five.

I feel like Avery Johnson at Bama is the basketball version of what we're trying to do with Lovie.

Sure. Damage control and reassurance that Groce is on reasonably solid ground. Both sorely needed at the time. Now, not so much.
Don't never not hit no one in the head with no ball not unintentionally.

+1
Why give up just because we are no longer the favorite?
If he's as important as people around here seem to think, then we don't give up. We are effectively the blueblood here, and we need to act like it IMO.
Stu may be close to Jgood's party but he may be passing info that they want to be passed.
Verge is definitely talented. Reminds me a bit of Boatright who played for UConn.
But I'll still pull silently that it'll happen even if most of the board/fans think he's 'bad' for whatever reason. You just don't see a kid who can move and make passes like that come around too often.
So his academics and behavioral issues make him a pipe dream?
