- Only go hard after the big fish if there's a real tangible reason he would pick us over the blue bloods.

Obviously it's easy to make these judgments in retrospect, but it's clear now that pursuing guys like Bragg, Evans, and Thomas was a mistake. Those players had no tangible reason to pick us over the traditional power programs.

I understand the point you're trying to make, but the examples you gave don't really prove your point. Bragg went to Kansas, but I wouldn't call Oklahoma State and Texas A&M "traditional power programs."

"selfish decision." I love that. He's totally correct, too. Gotta do what's best for him.

Seems like a really enthusiastic and smart kid.

He also mumbled at the end that he would take visits before football season so that would be in the next 3-5 weeks.

I'm a firm believer in parsing a 17/18 yos words. But the key thing here, and you touched on it, is the mumbling. Sure fire giveaway, Illinois it is!

Writings on the wall :thumb: something I appreciate about that video was his reaction to MSU. The way he mentioned Draymond & Denzel Valentine sounded like "I appreciate the MSU offer because I know I can be as good as those guys but I'm my own player". I'm no mind reader, but that was my gut take away.

Kind of surprised he said a September decision. I kind of figured he would decide before or after football season. But I guess a commitment wouldn't be a big distraction if you already know where you're going.:)

I kind of love that he's a football player too. Ray, Dee, Augie...all football players, all tough, aggressive competitors. Not saying it's a must, but I think it's nice to have some football players on the team.

Read between the lines people. Frazier and Goodwin are ours and the staff knows it. When Tilmon guaranteed Goodwin was coming he wasn't kidding. "I gotta be selfish." Good line to keep some people speculating, but it's a wrap.

Yeah, it might be...but I've seen too many 'wraps' and 'locks' that don't pan out. I'll rest easy once the commitment is announced.

I do enjoy all the timely smiling and shiftiness. However, it also seems and sounds like there are people standing behind the interviewer participating in some tomfoolery trying to get some smiles. I am happy with the way that went though.

Las Vegas schedule shows Frazier and Florida Elite have now played 2 games. Anybody have any feedback? I see where his OV to Illinois is August 19-21.

In fact, both of those schools are traditional doormats. I spend 5.5 years in College Station and no one there gives half a crap about basketball.

Justin Smith has scheduled another visit to Michigan. I believe he visited there about a month ago, about the same time that Michigan was recruiting Matthews.

Derek Piper ‏@DPiperScout 3h3 hours ago .@_Trentfrazier1 continues to do his thing getting buckets out in Vegas. #Illini continue to do theirs being courtside at every game.

I downloaded the pdf file results, which you can get here http://www.bigfoothoops.com/tournaments/lvc/schedules

FE is 1-1 in pool play, beat a team from Seattle 60-48 yesterday and lost to EP Elite from Louisana this afternoon, 61-52. If last week is any indication when he led FE in scoring in every game, I'd guess he's doing ok.

Smith's first visit to UM was for team camp on June 25th.

True, except I understand that his father accompanied him on that visit. This trip he will be with his mother. That tells me he has serious interest in Michigan.

He's been to C/U 3 times in the last 13 months.
