And gladly sing Happy Birthday on any day Mr Goodwin wants to celebrate it.
Unfortunately SLU is in the drivers seat at this point.

Seriously? Based on what?
I can't imagine they would be able to maintain any lead they might have at this point after he takes an OV to Illinois. The staff will pull out all of the stops for this one and the atmosphere on campus will be tough for SLU to match.Unfortunately SLU is in the drivers seat at this point.
oy, now I have to watch another message board go through a collective nervous breakdown.
The first 5 - 10 minutes or so went better than I expected.
Just sharing what I'm told by someone who knows. Amazing the collective meltdown and bashing when it's news you don't want to hear!! Fingers crossed that something changes, but today, that's the news!

Yes I only had 4783 private messages!!
How long has SLU even been recruiting Goodwin?
I don't think UI Basketball is near the same level as they once were, but they are still night and day difference from SLU and that crap conference.
I don't get it. I understand the closeness factor, but Illinois has been in on him from Day 1 and one of his best friends just committed to UI.
No need to panic. It's far from over. Wait for it to play out. Illinois has a lot of things to sell, Tilmon being one of them. Hopefully once school starts back up, AAU personnel will take a little bit more of a back seat. Goodwin is a kid that likes the attention and wants to prove himself on a big stage. Ultimately, I have a hard time seeing SLU meeting those criteria.I don't get it. Nice, probably requesting your address to play "shoot the messenger"

It will truly be Goodwin's loss if he goes to SLU. Maybe it won't matter in the long run, but he could be remembered as one of the guys that helped put the Illini back on the map and you know how the Illinois network after school works for these guys. SLU can offer none of that and can't believe just having your AAU coach as an assistant would trump all that.
The Ohio reference seems a little strange given his age. Just a talking point from the coaching staff being repeated or is Ramey a ball historian?
