Did Bama offer to let him play football, too? I'd hate to compete with the offer of playing (or at least being on the sideline) in a national championship game.

How good is JGood at football? Genuinely curious on that. If he's that good then Illinois should be offering him to play football as well. If not, I am not sure Alabama would go out of their way to use a scholarship to help out their basketball program.

I don't know...I think it's pretty common knowledge that basketball is priority #1 at Alabama :)

no. Iowa and Iowa State were the only 2 schools that offered football scholarships and it didn't help.

OK, so Bama doesn't have a guaranteed football championship as a recruiting bonus.

Now, what about Mizzou? He said his St Louis Eagles coach is an assistant at Mizzou. True? How important is that?

Not only are you not really supposed to post info from a paid site if it's premium info, you basically said "water isnt wet, it's more... wet."

I didn't "really" post an article from a pay site.....it's free.

Water isn't wet...hmmm. While that's a very cheeky phrase, the Piper tweet sounds a bit different than the actual quote.

It won't be enough for Miznoz to win this one, but it does keep them on the short list.

The impatient and greedy side of me doesn't want to wait until October 23rd to find out what Goodwin has decided. I was hoping for an August decision, close to the same time as Frazier :).

I believe Goodwin is a winner. After watching him in person during his freshman year at Effingham, I hope he commits to Illinois. I will celebrate if he does.

I'll take the under please...

No way I see this lasting that long.

Guys often say things like this and then once they go on visits and school gets going they just want to be done with some of it. I wouldn't be surprised if it ended before then either.

Frazier is ready to make a list when his recruiting just started to heat up....sounds like he has an idea where he wants to go!!:D

Rivals database shows no offer for Negron from Wisconsin. Iowa has no available scholarships at this point for the 2017 class.

Should he commit to the beloved, this guy will hands-down be my favorite player since Dee Brown. I have seen no one come through the IHSA with a higher compete-level and will to win (I know, a lame Sox phrase) than this guy....although Rose had a very good career, too.

Anyhow, really keeping the fingers and toes crossed here. The guy will make everyone better and play every game like it's his last.

LuckyLefty doesn't chime in often, but when he does....stay thirsty my friends!

Mr. Goodwin is a class act. Not sweating us hopefuls out with Texas & MSU anymore.

The only kid I ever saw with a similar "compete-level" in the IHSA was Lenzelle Smith of Zion-Benton. There are actually lots of similarities between Goodwin and Smith: approximately the same size/body type, similar athletic ability (sneaky good but not elite), "positionless" label in high school, plus-level passers and rebounders from the wing, exceptional defenders. Smith was a better shooter, albeit streaky, and Goodwin is a substantially better ball handler.

I think Goodwin is an inch taller and a hair more athletic. Lenzelle was an outstanding player at tOSU, but never figured out how to create his own shot; I think that Goodwin will be like a deluxe version of Smith - all the good stuff, plus much higher upside as a scorer/playmaker.

Wasn't the general consensus that Groce was actively coaching Cliff Alexander when he was chasing him as well? I think we all remember that one specific picture between the two....

Not saying UI doesn't land Goodwin because I think they do but don't over emphasize this point

If the Goodwin recruitment turns into a Nike/Adidas war and Nike gets the two top players to commit to one of their schools the week before his commitment, my concern will increase quite a bit.

He also got a Memphis offer recently. Maybe he forgot to add them? I'm not sure there's anyone on this list to be concerned about. WKU and SMU might be prone to some shady recruiting tactics, but it's hard to say how far they'll go for a guy outside the top 100 (as of now). SHU and UGA are new offers so there probably isn't a strong relationship with either school/coaching staff. Baylor and K-State haven't been in the conversation much over the past several months, so it's hard for me to believe that either of them are legit contenders anymore. FAU got mentioned twice, so maybe they have the inside track.

Top 6?
- Illinois, FAU, N. Florida, MTSU, SHU, UGA
...or...
- Illinois, Illinois, Illinois, Illinois, Illinois, Illinois
