To be fair, earlier on, Kansas was even involved, so it's not like we as message board fans were that far off base based on his earlier years.

From Kansas involvement to Chicago State, now that's a drop.:)

Yeah, even if by some miracle we made the Final 4 this year, Barrett still is never coming here. Do like that we're aiming big though

I think Antigua knows his dad a bit. I don't think we have a real shot of getting him, more likely his dad is just throwing a bone to a friend.

Wow. Kezo Brown to Chicago State. I remember when his dad didn't know why he liked Illinois. Said he should only go to a blue blood. Recruiting is a funny thing.

Hubris gets you nowhere.

As long as this staff is aware of this, and is willing to use it for positive PR and not get sucked into believing we have a chance like last staff.

Peach Jam bracket play begins today. MS will play Houston Hoops at 5:30 CT. Bradley Beal plays PSA Cardinals also at 5:30 CT (Hate when that happens.)
Peach Invitational play starts tomorrow. The Fire plays Uplay Canada at 12:30.

Just a hunch, think this staff knows that to make recruits want to join, chose the one's already leaning this way. Our best chance is grabbing the in-state boys, but still extend offers to everyone you like. May not get alot of countrywide commits, but our in-state guys more than equal to filling the system up. Think Lou did that for years.;):chief:

My early take on this staff is they are evaluating the guys they think they want and only offering once they decide they want them. They then have confidence that the guys they get will be properly developed into the kind of players the staff wants. If the big fish don't want to be part of that right now, then they move on to the next guy with confidence they will be able to adequately develop those that do want to be part of it. After showing success, the big fish are going to want to be here. It takes time and as long as they have a plan, stick to the plan and show success; they big guys will come. Until then, their loss. At least that is what I hope!

3 years ago this board had anointed Kezo as our next starting PG from our Simeon pipeline.

You talk about a fall from grace.. Jesus. I am a Chicago State Alum, but this is nuts. Kezo had some health issues, but played pretty well last year. He always seems to put huge numbers when Simeon plays at CSU. He went nuts in a game last year(CPS championship I think). Can not believe he didn't get out of town for college.

I haven't really followed or heard his name for a while. Was there an obvious reason he went from freshman prodigy to Chicago State?

Speaking of once heralded prodigy, looks like Tyger Campbell has dropped to 63 in Rivals and has lost 5 star status.

In all fairness, as robjilla pointed out Kezo had some type of injury for a solid year. OTOH, there is a lot of room between Kansas and Chicago St. We seemed to be on the receiving end of too many of those early hyped Chicago kids. Tate, Shaw, DJW, and Jalen James (almost). Heck even Brock, came all hyped up. Some never live up to their hype. It will be interesting to see how Coupet and Norvell end up.

Norvell went to Gonzaga who played in the National Championship game. Per ESPN he had offers from Florida State, Iowa State, and Georgetown. Not Kentucky or Duke. Not clear why Grove didn't want him.

Coupet went to UNLV. Per 247 he had offers from Bradley, DePaul and E Carolina. Makes more sense why Groce didn't pursue.

Probably because we had Nunn, Hill, JCL and AJ. Even though Hill played as more of an SF, ZN would have been 4th string his freshman year.

I think there's a chance he ended up here if he was in a different class

[FONT=&quot]Meanstreets led 10-1 after 2 minutes, have looked decidedly underwhelming since then. Houston Hoops up 42-33 at halftime. Finke has made 1 corner 3, missed several others, has had 2 layups blocked. Entire team looks flat. Bradley Beal up PSA Cardinals 44-28 at the half. Think I'll watch that game for the 2nd half.
