Top-60 wing Landers Nolley tells me he will take an OV to Champaign next weekend. Big-time #Illini priority. Underwood LOVES his shot-making

Would be a huge get!! Really love his game. BU getting the job done getting the kids on campus and he hasn't even had his 1st game yet. I love the way the staff is going all out for guys.:shield:

Would love a class of Ayo, Nolley, Sow, and BPJ.

Yeah, that would do.

Sow and BPJ will not be in the same class. Too much duplication. Don't forget THT.:)

As well as Big George and Scott Meents, Welch was around 6-11 and I never remember him being the post guy. Same as I do not think Conditt would be the post guy here. I alsoI do not See EJ and Okoro being recruited to play the same spot. Maybe I am wrong, but just seems like a lot of Bigs if you only going to have one of them out there at a time, counting our 2 FR

Welch was very generously listed at 6'9.

Why do people do this?

Nice to see all these big time visitors but until one signs with us there isn't much to get me that excited about yet.

The number of different scenarios that exist to end up with a great recruiting class continues to grow. We haven't been in this situation in a long time.

Could be an interesting weekend. Devon Dotson will be at Kansas and here's what he said about the visit: “They said they need a guard to come in and lead from Day One and they think I can be the guy.” Kansas is also one of the three finalists for another pg--Immanuel Quickley, ranked #10 by Rivals. If one of those guys commits to KS, it could bolster our chances us with Ayo.

I can respect that --I'm a show me the money guy myself. However, of all the hires we've had in the past 10 years in bball and fball, Underwood has me the most excited. I believe a couple things are/have weighed him down this cycle:
1. He inherited a roster with a gaping hole at center, as well as some potential turnover due to radically different coaching styles. He's addressed that.
2. In addition to fixing the roster, he had to assemble his staff, putting him even farther behind on the upcoming class. Also addressed. We have a solid staff.
3. We haven't been nationally relevant in a while. Showing we're on an upward trend will help with recruiting. Hold our own in a very tough conference, get better during the year, be a team that no one wants to play in March. That's going to take a season, and is currently TBD. I do believe this roster can get it done with his leadership. I think the buy-in is there, and he has a proven system. Also, it will help when we have an all-conference player, or guy who gets drafted that he can point to, especially if it was a guy that wasn't in the top-50 rankings when he recruited him.

If you counterbalance that with how much untapped fan support there is here, I do think we have the right conditions for a huge turn-around. Can't wait to see how everything unfolds.

I like THT just as much if not more than the next guy. So many players I would love to have, only so many spots available. If THT wants a spot, I am pretty sure the staff would be able to make it happen.:shield:

Lol one is already a physically developed power big while the other is a long 7 footer who is physically the opposite.. those 2 could be in the same class.

I dont think any of our options for bigs would be scared away by the players we currently have. They will all likely be behind Finke but after that the best player will win out. Same goes if we get 1 or 2 of our current options...none should scare away a player like Okoro.

BU has addressed the gaping hole at center already? I like the current coaching staff but it is a huge exaggeration to say that we have addressed the gaping hole at center. BU inherited a roster that had a signed marquee recruit at center. Tilmon decided to leave for whatever reasons. We hope that we will address that gap with our recruiting but it has not happened yet.

The position has clearly be "addressed" with the 2 new bigs coming in. That does not necessarily mean that it has been "fixed". ;)

I think the premise that players would be scared does not hold water. Illinois has been irrelevant in college basketball for more than 10 years with just one player selected as first team All-B1G in the last 11 years. The argument that recruits are getting scared of current players at this point is as silly as the argument that recruits at guard were not committing to Illinois because they were scared of Tracy Abrams for the last whatever number of years.

Agree with you that elite PGs wren't afraid of Abrams but I do think they had to consider how loyal Groce was to his older players and that Tracy was going to get a lot of minutes.

Yep. Perfect example of where Groce was loyal to a fault and it most likely hurt him.

It has not been addressed, that is not what addressing the problem means. When you sign very low ranked recruits you have not addressed the problem. It does not mean that these players will not perform or may not be even become stars. But saying we have already addressed the problem at C at this point is the same as having said that we had addressed the problem at PG when we signed Tate (and I am not singling out Tate, just an example of lower ranked recruit, it could be Ibby at C, or many others). IF the players do perform, you can say that then, but not now.

BPJ taking a UV to Depaul today.

Elijah Weaver, who is a PG from FL. Thinking about taking his last OV to either ILL, NCST, or Memphis. Is taking 4 OV's to FL, tOSU, OSU, and USC.
