May have to add Griffin to that list. Probably the Indiana kid, Aaron Henry, we just offered too.

Have seen Henry play. Think he is WAY overrated. He has some skills don't get me wrong, but for the $$ the staff is getting paid we should do way better than this.

When he played against Kris Wilkes he got absolutely dominated. When he was forced to guard Wilkes he got lazy, and got scored on almost every possession.

Plus, he is likely going to be a Loosier.

Just got a call from a Champaign area code, missed it but I'm pretty sure it was BU calling to offer me a scholly... or my grandma. 2 spots, dozens of offers. I wonder how many are actually commitable at this point but you take Zion without hesitation. Then get Ayo locked up, he brings a big and we over sign by one.

THT sure does foul out a lot. Maybe the Irvin's were just being honest about him not being able to guard anyone. Don't get me wrong I would love to have THT.

From having watched him a lot last winter and even more this spring and summer I'd estimate that at least a third to a half of his fouls come on charges. When he drives, it's hard for him to stop and pop.
He gets a lot of blocks and steals, he's certainly no worse than any other high school player when it comes to defense. If he was that bad, they should have been glad he left, not act like babies for 2 months.
He's still my number 1 hope for this class.

THT best in state he guards elite pgs and sgs and sfs and a few pfs no one in this state regardless of class has the tools of THT on anyside of the ball

Right on! I trust your evaluation, and that makes perfect sense. I know Robert Smith preaches defense, and AAU is much different than high school ball. Is Illinois HS going to go with the shot clock this year?

Nope, no shot clock. Still only 8 states that have them. I looked around about shot clocks a while back and found this article. With the cost being between 5,000+ to 25,000 dollars per school to convert gyms to shot clocks, it's going to be hard to do. You talk that kind of money to most school principals and 90% of them are going to give you a list of plenty of things their school needs more than a shot clock for basketball games.

Really like his game too! I think he should be #1 get also, but that is not the case. Kinda glad all summer games over so we can see where these guys are going to visit. Glad we got a offer to Griffin, and he seems to like the fact he got the offer.
Think it is gonna shake out that we get a commit from somewhere, but not Ayo first. Actually he is one we need to set the dominos to fall. Hopefully waiting for him doesn't have effect on others we really need to get. THT seems to be on back burner, which may be ok, since he is still WIDE open. Ayo, THT, after that I really don't know if makes a difference in a big, and a wing. Gonna hope Griffin turns into good player, and we get him, since he has fond memories of Illinois from his younger days, maybe 2005? ;):illinois:

MIF had a very good team this year but they were too busy trying to hide kids talents in order to bolster another player to be an all american they could of easily been a peach jam title contender once again irvins shoot themselves in the foot again

I read an article earlier today, apologize for no link, that said it would cost about $3 grand per school.

De Souza

Has anyone heard anything about De Souza recently or is he out of the picture?

Indy, you've been very consistent on this front. Any idea when the first domino might fall?

Piper talked like Ayo would probably be a while. Wanted to take his visits. Wish it were over because I think his offer list is going to have a lot of big names on it.

I really like the strategy of making so many offers. This staff doesn't seem to put all their eggs in one basket. Blanket the class with offers of all the players you like and you increase the chances of getting your guys. The old strategy of keeping offers at a minimum always seemed to burn us. We would lose our #1 target and have very few options on our fallback guys.
Still not quite ready to buy into hype but I am warming up to the idea.

I don't know the average number of offers that Groce made, but the number BU has made is not unusual--it's just that a lot of them happened quickly. Plus, I think it's unlikely any of the players we've offered end up at a blueblood program. Why? Those programs are in good shape with other highly ranked players they've been recruiting for some time. Sure, Ayo could end up at Kansas, but he's not in control of that decision. We should be competitive with most of the offers we've made.

I'm sure Ayo has a place in his mind, think a couple of commits might speed him up, but I doubt it. Think he has been told he is Superman, and waiting for all offers at his feet. Wouldn't be surprised if he waits till Spring.:(
