Maybe so, but not nearly as many as he plays against weekly in High School. It really isn't a knock against THT, he reminds me of a McClain type of player, Sergio was not athletic, but he was very talented overall

We are talking about the same THT who averaged 9.5 points in 4 2016 Holiday Pontiac Tournament games? Only time I saw him live and left uninspired.

Trust the staff. This 1st year class w/ BU will be better than any class Groce ever put together in his entire tenure. BU knows what he is doing.

This is only the beginning...:shield:

most of this THT talk is pretty dumb. The kid is a stud plain and simple. What I see most in him is an extreme high bball iq. He knows how to use his body, use angles, and he can shoot. We would all be thrilled to land him and be bummed to lose him.

However, watching Zion Griffin, that is one heck of a consultation prize. He's a guy who was wasted playing PF/C in high school and when his AAU team let him play SF, he showed he is a D1 major SF. Either will thrill me.

AAU basketball is wide open. We see boxscores. We don't see how many points were scored on unguarded layups or wide open shots. High school ball, the defense gets better and the selfishness fades away. The stats won't be the same, nor should we expect them to me.

Give me THT first and foremost, but if we have to settle for Griffin, we will be more than fine.

Excellent analysis. Couldn't agree more.

We need to bring back some of the old greats from when this board was at its best! I have a lot of respect for all the posters you named, but we need to get Kramer, LincolnIlliniFan, g0... who am I forgetting! There's so many! Even Chiefinillini7! He was one of my favorites as well:chief:

Why don't we believe LincolnIlliniFan = Cash35? Or Kramer = HC Illini?

Alot of heated discussion today, which I think is good for all to air there opinions. IF you want facts, it's best the all your info comes from reliable sources. Many here do speculate alot, I am one that will, and try to back up my reasons with the way I see it. IF someone has better information, from reliable sources, I always like to see that on this forum. Some facts came to light today, the FACT that THT, said that our staff had been at all his games. Awesome. Guess he feels we are actively looking at him. I respect Mike's opinion alot , he spends alot of time watching games , reading articles and tweets. He generally basis his posts on facts.
Have been a Illinois fan growing up 25 miles from campus so I have had close eyes on things for awhile. Forgot alot of things, but still keep up with all going on best I can. In 40 years on following Illinois, I can honestly say , this upcoming season has shown us all alot to look forward too. The recruits in upcoming class , will have alot to do with where we will go in next 5 years and beyond. Hope we can all throw our 2cents into the conversation, try to get facts when we can, and let all know anything helps shine the light on the team. Enjoy reading posts and speculate on them for friendly conversation. Hopefully Ayo, THT, or any of future recruits, give us a good source of conversation for years to come.:illinois:

How great would an all Chicago (city only) class be.

Ayo, THT, Conditt, Pearson

Would really establish us in the city.

The original post was implying that he's only overpowering weak high school players. Mike showed that he is physically dominating high level future D1 players. There is a big difference, this isn't class 1A scrubs

First of all I respect Mike's analysis an insight he brings daily here...The original post referenced "boys" that he is playing against ie: lesser talent and lesser physical players both, neither will be the case on the next level, for the most part.

I also never called THT current comp scrubs, but to simply imply he will A) Do the same in college as he does in HS, B) Will do the same in college as he does on the circuit is in both cases far reaching to be polite about it.

How many STUDS go to college and never even get close to their supposed ranking or hyped abilities? More than not actually, I am not saying THT will be one, I just think he will be hard pressed to duplicate in college what he is doing in HS.

I apologize if I was unclear, but I never meant to convey that THT would be as dominant at the college level as he is at the high school level. However, he will physically impose his will on other players whether he is a successful college player or not. My original point was that he is physically much more ready for the college game than Zion, not that he will perfectly replicate his AAU play

I enjoyed hearing from all the "insider" guys even if the story they were sharing did not bare fruit. It makes reading these forums a lot of fun! Let's try not to run off anymore insiders even if they prove to be fake. My life is so much better when I have 3-4 pages to read rather than 5 posts.

I agree that THT is more physically ready to play, the original thought of mine although it could have been clearer. Athletically I thought Zion was ahead and long term I think any player that has the athleticism and growth possibilities, tends to be the better long term player. Still think this applies in this case. I like THT as a player and over reached in my original analysis as stated, I do think he is well ahead of many at this stage talent/physicality, however, I do think Zion is the better option long term.

All this constructive banter aside, would be happy with either representing the O&B, I have my preference and Mike has his.

Old ward haha...I'm also pretty sure Lincoln still posts on here.

One guy I remember would post all the time on here was DaytonIllini

Old Ward!! Classic!!

He's still around here right?

Also, Dayton always had great insight as well!

Edit: TC - GHD and HOC!! Both added so much to the board, although GHD's post count would get kind of excessive at times

I find it interesting that THT is still taking UV's. The most recent one's are XU, Butler and tOSU.
