Good stuff guys.Good points, for some insane reason I continue to forget about Mark Smith. What I should say is that with the current class, it doesn't matter if Underwood strikes out for this recruiting season. If we play well this season, he will get late recruits like Mark Smith again and we will be in a great position one year from today. With the FR class we have combined with the JR class we have, we will be giving Underwood 90% of what he needs for the next 2 seasons.

Care to give us a scouting report?

I concur with the others. He acquitted himself nicely playing with some of the top players in the country. As others have mentioned he needs to clean up and gain consistency with his jump shot but does most other things really well. The fact that he is a top 30 player despite a suspect jump shot shows how well he does the other things. I was particulaly impressed on his knack for finishing strong at the rim. He had several And Ones. He is the real deal. Hopefully BU can close this one out.

I'd like to put in a formal request to start a new thread as soon as we get our first commit.

All in favor, say I?

First practice thread will probably be opened first.;)
Thinking the Castleton visit will be pretty important, hope they have a good gym session.

I know this is going to come as a shock to everyone. Kansas offered Okoro today.

News-Gazette article by Scott Richey about Castleton:

Assistant's arrival gives Illini an edge

"Once Coach Underwood saw me play he said he fell in love with me and liked the way I played and Coach Antigua was right," Castleton said. "It makes a big difference when Coach Antigua has put a lot of big guys in the NBA. People say (John) Calipari was the one who did that, but the guy who worked them out was Coach Antigua. He was the big man coach. He knows all the things to get a player to the next level and develop them. That's a big thing for me. I want to be developed the right way so one day I can make it to the NBA. . . ." He also intends to make all of his official visits before deciding on a school. "I want to see how these schools look when I get there," Castleton said. "I'm not going to commit after any of the visits. It's not going to happen."

I didn't realize how much bigger Castleton is than his teammates. Picture of his team from last year.

Ohio State offers Castleton.

May be a bit late since he's already selected 5 schools to visit. The schedule is getting tight. He's visiting Florida (again) even though they haven't offered.

If Finke is in the '18 class, it's because we missed on all of our wings. I'm hoping that will not be the case

I can remember not too long ago, all wanted Finke to commit. His summer brought his stock down. Still think he has alot too offer, we will see what happens in his senior year. I'm still a fan of getting them signed in spring.

Like I've said before, if he's in the O&B of course I will be rooting for him! But myself and others on here have always thought he was ranked much too high, so not all wanted him to commit

ties will be resolved
I always wondered what recruits who played the 5 thought when they found out they'd be coached by Dustin Ford.
I'm glad we got an assistant that can finally give bigs confidence to want to play for us.

Very good point. Antigua's reputation is as an ace recruiter. But he developed those elite bigs very well and that's got to be a huge selling point to the bigs we're recruiting. Needless to say, OA is a massive upgrade over his predecessor.

Yeah almost too good , rumbling in UK Land, OA would be on a list of head coaches should they need one.

#Illini priority big man target Colin Castleton tells me he has added OVs to Purdue (9/29) & Florida (10/14). No Xavier. ILL gets 1st crack.

I'd be very concerned if Castleton gave a commitment that he would waver in the event that Florida came up with an offer. It seems pretty apparent to me that he wants to go to Florida and everyone else is a fallback. Using an official visit to a place where there is no offer yet tells a lot. He's hoping for an offer and/or has some indication that one might be on the way.
