It sucks seeing other teams in the Big Ten filling out their classes while we are still waiting for our first 2018 commitment

Patience, man, patience. Only 5 teams in the B1G have more than one commitment for 2018 and of those only Michigan State and IU have more than 2.

Patience, grasshopper! :)

It's not how you start, it's how you finish. Thought everyone on the board might wait just a little longer before starting down this path...

We really should temper expectations for our incoming players. I would highly suggest that people take the time to let these young guys get on the court and see how they actually perform in a D-I game before surrounding them with so much hyperbole.

The only reason I say this is because there seems to be a very contagious disease going around here to hype players up as all big-ten selections when they come in, but if they happen to transfer out they're treated as if they weren't squat.

I'm as excited about Ebo as the next, especially with the quality reports coming out about him. But let's try to let him get on the floor and see how he handles things before we anoint him as a solid contributer, let alone an all big-ten freshman candidate

WAAAY to logical and patient. It is kind of like crystal balls, whoever calls All-B1G freshman first team first wins! j/k. Welcome.

After this spring and summer I'm surprised you'd say this. Underwood and co. have already demonstrated that they are able to fill a class adequately. They've already exceeded expectations in that department, imo.

I will worry about it when (if) the kids we are on end up elsewhere

With all of the IU commits in the last 48 hours. What's everyone thinking a timeline would be for BU's first 2018 commit and prediction on who it might be. Obviously Ayo, THT, Finke have all been linked to our Illini. I will gladly take any of those 3 but I am hoping BU gets a high level big locked up early for 18.

Finke within the next few weeks.

But more importantly, how many Tom Cruises?
JT was a 5 Tom Cruise recruit, IIRC. Maybe Robert will give them out more conservatively in the future.

(but I think Ayo would be worth 5 Tom Cruises)

What are everyone's thoughts on the Tamell Pearson offer? Seems to play below the rim a lot more than I would expect for a 6'10 player of his build

I thought the very same thing, but he does seem to handle the ball well , gets up and down the floor very well, have a decent shot. He kind of seems like a kid who has always been taller then most the people he plays against by a lot, so never has really had to jump so just doesn't, kind of like Mav throne, and a few other guys we have had recently.

if we are going to take 4 guys he would bein my group for the 4th ride

1st AYO no one else really close
2nd 1 of either THT, Finke, DJ or similar guy like iggy
3rd Big George, Sow, Hellems, Colin Castelton
4th Pearson and/or another SG-Wing kind of guy like group 2

and yeah I know people are going to say we wont take 2 bigs, but to have 4 rides we would have to loss someone so who knows who it might be, and who really knows where people are going to be playing

going to be interesting to see how all this plays out for sure

I know you got to watch a lot of games, I was lucky enough to see most of BBE games this weekend, and I know Hellums put up some really good numbers but I stil thought EJ was the best player on that team. What would be your opinion on that since you saw a lot more of them all eybl then me

If I could pick one guy on the team for the Illini, yeah, it would be EJ without a doubt. Great motor and already has polished offensive skills for a high school junior. On a running, try and get a shot up in 7 seconds team, he'd be a perfect fit.
If he grows another couple of inches he'll have Cal and K and Bill all over him, so lets hope he stays 6-6 or 7 or whatever he is.

To me that looks pretty good. I'd prefer DJ in that second line though. He's got some serious swag to his game and lefties are just cooler anyway.

This is one of the big things I have noticed too...hence why players like TJL, Finke and Kipper end up being better than AJ, DJW and Colbert etc

You might want to think about taking up fishing.:)

Recruiting is off the charts full scale. The net is cast World Wide.

The most Interesting Man in the World is Brad Underwood and his staff.

I definitely intended no disrespect to AJ if that is what you were implying. I can point out that Kipper has shown to be the better player contrary to ranking while still whole heartedly supporting AJ. In fact, I don't know if there's anyone I'm rooting for more than AJ, he's a great kid!

Great kid. Could see him coming of age this year.
