Cannot measure "addressed" by the ranking IMO. I have trust at this point in the staff to only sign players they think can help. Watching the practice clip of Greg taking the ball to the basket tells me that he has the athletic ability if not the polish. BU went out and hired the staff he needed for this position instead of just bringing his old staff (like JG did). He has said several times that this is the best group of players he has ever had and he has been to the dance consistently. I choose to be optimistic.

The argument that recruits are getting scared of current players at this point is as silly as the argument that recruits at guard were not committing to Illinois because they were scared of Tracy Abrams for the last whatever number of years.

I do not believe there is any staff that signs players who they do not believe they can help.

Being optimistic has nothing to do with it. We are all optimistic, heck, we have been irrelevant for for more than a decade and we just had a coaching change.

I am very optimistic of Ebo, I think he can help and I believe will be in the main rotation. As I said, every player has a chance to become a star, (including Ebo and Matic) You can say that you have addressed the problem then, but not now, as evident of the many examples, some I mentioned in my post. Otherwise, you can say that you have addressed your gaps every single year, by signing lower ranked recruits at the end of the year. We can do that every year.

Rankings do matter as there are higher chances of success correlated with higher rankings, especially at the higher end. The premise that recruiting rankings do not matter holds no water either. This does not mean that lower ranked players do not have a chance of succeeding (or high ranked players of failing), just that the chances of that happening are much lower.

fyi..you can find some different numbers, but here 2.1 inches for average person according to this, NBA average is 4.4...some of this can be accounted for in average ht in NBA is greater than average person, but it is still nowhere near double the wingspan difference.

The numbers being thrown out are indeed impressive, but no doesn't automatically make him a beast.

BPJ is 6'11 with a 7'8 wingspan. Definitely not dime a dozen. Again, raw offensively but his potential is unlimited.

You seem to understand both English, and what a new coach walking in the door can do. Not everyone does.

Update on '18 #Illini bball target Talen Horton-Tucker: ILL is still putting in hard work, all three coaches are involved in my recruitment.

Weaver's not going to attend Illinois. Am hardly an insider, but that much is clear.

We haven't had this many high level recruits showing serious interest in years. Assuming Ayo is our primary target, along with one wing and one big, we have 15 potential scenarios if we stick with guys who have announced or taken an unofficial or official visit:

Ayo, THT, Castleton
Ayo, THT, Conditt
Ayo, THT, Sow
Ayo, THT, BPJ
Ayo, THT, Hayes
Ayo, Henry, Castleton
Ayo, Henry, Conditt
Ayo, Henry, Sow
Ayo, Henry, BPJ
Ayo, Henry, Hayes
Ayo, Nolley, Castleton
Ayo, Nolley, Conditt
Ayo, Nolley, Sow
Ayo, Nolley, BPJ
Ayo, Nolley, Hayes

If you make it a two, three, or four player class without a firm commitment from Ayo, the possible combinations increase to:

Class of 2 recruits: 36 combinations
Class of 3 recruits: 84 combinations
Class of 4 recruits: 126 combinations

Of course this doesn't take into account the probability of any given player signing, but it does illustrate how hard it is to predict what this class will look like.
