I always hate when teams get great recruits by doing things like signing their family member or AAU coach, etc, because it's never us. But I REALLY hate it's Missouri now.

Could be a sign that BU and JaW's visit with Javon went well...

I will give Mizzou a pass on this one. Porter was an assistant on the Mizzou women's staff for several years, his sister-in-law is their women's head coach and he has 2 daughters on the women's team.

He probably is a lot more qualified than several of the type hires you reference. Porter played D1 college ball. His wife played college ball.

There's a lot of history with Mizzou.

And he's got 8 kids so Mizzou will have lots of Porters coming over the next many years.

Hiring Walker without having this sewn up was a big, big mistake.

I can't imagine this will happen. Walker gets hired because maybe it kind of, sort of makes a difference with the recruits? Doubt it. I think Whitman is too smart for that. I'd like to think this is a wrap.

...but we are also dealing with high schoolers.

Recruiting update. Blake Harris told Espn that he will take an official visit to Missouri on Monday.

4 star pg who committed to Washington. I'm choosing to think that in addition to Porter Sr and Jr's influence, this is because Cuonzo isn't very optimistic about Smith.

How do you know Underwood wouldn't have hired Walker sans recruits? You act like it's a catastrophe that he's on the staff unless he keeps the class intact. Walker seems like a well-liked and engaging guy. I'm glad he's sticking around either way.

Guys, if there's one thing to take away from this board is that very few people (if anyone) knows anything about anything. Underwood's name wasn't even brought up in the coaching search board until a couple hours before it happened.

Takeaway: Don't believe anything until you see it from some random guy on Twitter! :thumb:

There is a lot of false, possibly mainly false info on this board.
On the other hand, Underwood's name was brought up several times on this board. No, it wasn't one of the top four or five, but it was brought up, which makes you one of us, who "doesn't know anything about anything."

I registered for a damn account on there and I still can't access that website, why is there so much security for a high school sports page? Jesus.

BOOM!!! He is an Illini! Sorry to put everyone's panties in a bunch. Including mine. Next stop, mark smith.

In regards to Tilmon. He was worried earlier in the night about Tilmon's camp pushing him somewhere else. Think we've got good news coming soon.

I made an account. All I see is that some guy who knows a guy, who knows a guy, who knows a guy, said that Tilmon is coming to Illinois... Lol

I will give the guy this though, he seems pretty confident that he's right.

I wouldn't characterize him as anti-Illinois. He's just very pro-SLU and pro-Mizzou, largely due to the fact that he has been a sportscaster in St. Louis, a very pro-SLU and pro-Mizzou town, for 20+ years.

This is not true. I used to listen to his show on 590 the fan and remember him saying on at least one occasion that he didn't care about Illinois Athletics. He is the biggest homer there is.
