I'd be more excited to grab Hinson than Giorgi. I like Giorgi's skillet, but I worry about his athleticism at this level. I admittedly haven't seen enough of him, but what I've seen doesn't fill me with confidence that he's much of an athletic upgrade over someone like Finke.

Hinson on the other hand has that tweeter games that I think works well in this offense. Someone that is physical enough to do some banging but can also step out and hit a shot.

That must be a euphemism for something, but I'm not sure that I want to know what.

And here are the votes, really a 3-man race:

432 votes: EJ Liddell, Belleville West

335 votes: Talen Horton-Tucker, Simeon

290 votes: Ayo Dosunmu, Morgan Park

I actually think they got it right, all things considered.

Haven't seen THT play enough, but wonder if he would of had similar struggles if not more than Mark Smith. Still think Mark's game/role would of continued to grow, likely not at his pace or expectations.

THT is a tweener at the next level, but so were many others who found a way.

Highly doubt it.

THT is a wing—and a highly skilled one at that. Don't see he him having the issues that Smith had. He'll be an All-Conference level player by the time his career is over at Iowa State.

Why is it some feel Georgi isn't athletic? People say Ebonis, athletic. It appears Georgi has uses both hands well, has good reaction time, hand eye coordination, runs the floor well, jumps and dunks with ease. He seems athletic to me for a man that's 6'10" or taller. He looks as athletic or even more so than what's currently on our roster.

With or without shoes?:D

Seriously though, thanks. We know Underwood doesn't "prefer" undersized guards, so 6'2" sounds good

With shoes :thumb:

Just going by what the team roster says:

By the way, Northwest Florida State has a really nice gym for a Community College:

This is where the Illini played a couple of years ago in the Emerald Classic, not far from some of the best beaches in the United States.

Hinson >THT

Come on....

I think Hinson can be really good, but THT just strikes me as so versatile and so skilled. The kind of kid that's going to be a real star at the college level. Not that Hinson can't.....

I'd actually agree with that sentiment (TC's sentiment)

That would be a very successful class. Not a "grand slam", but a darn good one that meets our most immediate needs.

That would be strong. Would also mean that 1 more unannounced transfer coming (which would possibly be TJL if we're looking at adding Feliz??).

Hinson tape looked good, but I'm not giving up hope on Jones just yet. That guy is a high flyer and can shoot it too.

Only thing that gives me pause is that, with Black + (possibly) Matic leaving, we are addressing our desperate need for bigs with Giorgi + Kane alone. If it turns out there are 2 more transfers, while Jones would be terrific, I would bet on a 5th year big transfer to help shore up that position and not take up a scholarship for the '19 class - where we would still have 3 slots and some primo targets.

For next year would mean (in order of size):

Trent
Feliz
DMW
Ayo
Griffin
AJ
Hinson
Kipper
Ebo
Matic
Finke
Giorgi
Kane

IMO adding Hinson makes this class the success we need and significantly improves the outlook for next season.

The staff should be selling him on stepping in for Black next semester. Hinson can get all the 3 point looks that Black was getting. He has some slashing to his game, don't believe he would have quite the same post ups as Leron.

Possible starters to begin the season would be Frazier/Ayo/Nichols/Finke/Ebo.

As the newcomers get adjusted perhaps a starting rotation could shape up as Frazier/Ayo/Nichols/Hinson/Finke
with the depth rotating in at guard Damonte/Feliz/Jordan/Griffin and at forward Kane/Ebo/Giorgi

Some assumptions about the roster yet to play out in that case. Just think we need to add Hinson and then everything else will be fine either way

Don't think it meets our needs for a Black replacement. Giorgi may be that guy down the road but we need someone for 2018-19. Hinson doesn't appear big enough to me. Wonder what his true height and arm span are. Black had a long arm span but couldn't defend against the bigger teams. Still think this is the prime missing piece. We got killed by big men last year. Ebo will help and Kane may pass him at some point next year but post defense reguires more than one man.

I think Matic is just as likely to leave as Tejon, if not more so.

Hinson >THT

All based on (limited) videos - but I thought the same thing or more like a bit taller, slightly more mobile THT from what I could see. Still think THT could be a a player that matured faster than his peers in HS and may not translate to the next level given he's not 6'8. But again, not living in the area - i have not seen either in person.
