GB was looking a little more polished towards the end of the season.

He will have some work to do on defense but I like his play making ability on offense

If anyone has concerns about Giorgi's dancing skills, start at the one minute mark;

I think the biggest question right now is how awesome OA is as a big man coach. Can he take projects and significantly and consistently develop them? Ebo, Kane, Giorgi- looks like we’ll have a bunch of big men projects. Unless we start getting some established bigs to commit (seems unlikely and even so, highly rated bigs are often projects), OA will likely be the X factor

That finishing at the rim is, I think, a mental block he has to get through. Every single time he tried to do a double-pump or dipsy-do around the defender rather than take it at him in beast mode. Sure, you will get blocked some, but you will draw fouls, too, and once you get used to being strong, it will be just that much easier. I hope he can unlock that aggression that he needs to do that because I feel he is skilled and athletic enough to be a very good player in the Big Ten over the next two years.

I'd like to draw attention to this - because Kipper just completed (if i heard correctly) one of the best years at the free throw line in school history (top 10?) I'm pretty sure that is what i heard. That being said - he is absolutely the best FT shooter on the team - so him getting to the FT line is critical to our success.

since 92-93 he's second for single season FT percentage .8617 this season

Early in the year, BU you eluded to Kip either not grasping the game plan, or not sticking to it. Know your personnel is a part of that. Know the teams and the guys that have shot blockers and know the guys you need to go strongly against.

"Plodding" would be a fair word for it. Skilled, but plodding.

I see it too. But hey, Mav was the king of the plodders and could do some things. Giorgi can do some things in the ole high post that Mav or any of our current bigs cannot.

Incidentally, I saw someone, after seeing Michael and TJ going away, how are you going to recruit anyone...and then, boom, Giorgi signs up the next morning. Um, maybe because Michael and TJ are leaving, recruiting will be easier.

If the last few days have taught us anything, it's that this group is terrible at nicknames.

More importantly what will we call him? Spicy G is already taken... Spicy B? GBez? The Bezinator?

maybe it's just cuz i listen to the Werner/Tay and Carp shows - but what's wrong with Giorgi B?

At his best, Kipper can be very very good. And a huge part of the success of this program going forward. At his worst he is not good. Period.

The challenge for BW is to get that best more often. Which I think will come. People have to remember, he was only a sophomore last year with a half semester of college play under his belt who was learning a new system.

I can't believe this slipped through for as long as it did - of course I know the poster meant BU - but still - BW? :tsk:

A lot of aspirational statemements, more than reality. Maverick was higher ranked (~top-150), and averaged 24.7 points, 9.2 rebounds and 2.9 blocks as a senior, shooting 61.7 percent from the field. Named Ohio Division I Player of the Year and was first-team All-Ohio.

I hope Giorgi does indeed grow into becoming much better than Maverick, but there is not much to suggest that he is much better than Maverick at the same stage, other than hope, mainly because we really need immediate inside help.

Don't worry, when he transfers out the puffery crew will say he was always a project, didn't fit Underwood's system and isn't a loss.

And that his videos showed a clear issue that was obviously never going to work in the B1G, so no way the coaches could have fixed it.
