The problem is Curbelo isn't much of a shooter, at least not now. He needs to ball in his hands. Any PG that we bring in needs to be more of a scoring/combo PG, because Curbelo is not a strength playing off the ball.
They both have some growing to do. The few Indiana games I saw, Lander didn't appear to be a shooter, facilitator, or slasher. I will give him the benefit of the doubt because he should have been a senior in high school and it takes time to adjust no matter what age you are. I expect Curbelo to improve and be on alot of preseason lists in year three.

I wonder how many of these players in the portal will eventually stay with their current teams. New coaches being hired may convince some to return.

Those Groves boys were something
One sportwriter suggested they may follow former Eastern Washington head coach Shantay Legans to the University of Portland. If they have interest in Illinois, that is great. If not, going to my daughter's alma mater (and just 45 miles south of where I live) would be sweet.

Look, yes Lander had a rough year but he reclassified. Honestly should have still been in high school but IU really pushed for him to come early. Plus Archie might be the worst guard developing coach I’ve ever seen. Lander wasn’t a 5 star for s***s and gigs. Look him up on YouTube and tell me he’s not talented. I think he’d be a great get if we lose out on TyTy and Nimari. EDIT: plus he’ll still be a freshman eligibility wise who just got baptized in the B1G. IU fans said he was showing more promise down the stretch so I’d really love to see this

Lander is small, can’t shoot, and doesn’t really create anything for anyone else in the half court. He’s a guy in AAU ball that looks good bc he’s super fast in a transition game, but he has a very low skill level. The only thing he does at an elite level is he’s fast. He was way overrated in HS.

The only thing he’s help us with is another guy that can dribble up the court. But on offense it’s playing 4 on 5 when he’s in the half court, and he also is bad on defense. People use excuse that he care in early but he turned 19 in August. He was old for his age group

I’m not so sure I would take your word as concrete. Just from watching from a far... but thanks for the insight!

But I will reiterate that we have reached out to EJ and MULTIPLE other players who haven’t hit the portal yet, so please don’t take this guys word as gospel! 🙄

EJ has long been putting out the feelers for transferring, weather you believe it or not, since before they ever beat us on our home floor and ending up having that incredible stretch in the B1G this year...

No disrespect to any other posters, I just know what I know. It doesn’t have to be argued with my friends.
Dude. You care so much about “being right” or having some kind of “in the know” status on a message board that you’d post something that could draw criticism to our coaching staff?

Keep an eye on who goes in the transfer portal in the next couple of days........there's going to be a couple of big ones

I am not sure where you have been the past 3 weeks but this is an evergreen comment during the offseason. Literally has been daily portal announcements of guys who are P5 starting caliber.
