Adam Miller was a 3 and D guy this year.
I agree that was the majority of his game, but in Ayo's absence and even in the Loyola game until he inexplicably got pulled, he showed more of his HS acumen of attacking the rim. He will be beastly next year.

I agree we need more guys who can create their own shot. But to refer to an earlier stat - we actually shot a lot of 3s.
Source: ESPN
Baylor missed a bunch of games from covid lol. Illinois also played at a pretty fast pace. Illinois shot the 28th lowest percentage of 3s in all of college basketball. 39% of Baylors shots are 3s compared to 30% of Illinois

I will say that next season, assuming Kofi is gone, will have very balanced scoring from 15PPG to 10 PPG from the top 5 scorers and having 3 with 8 PPG. This way, defenses will have to work harder as we will not have 2 guys on the floor constantly so defenses can drop off of. If Kofi is back, then we will have a 18-20 a game guy and it will open the floor more for shooters. I believe we will be more dangerous next March than this March as we wont have the glaring weakness of 3 point shooting.
If both Ayo and Kofi leave (which I expect to happen), I think we may be looking at the potential of 5 games in the BTT next March. (Due to a severe drop-off in talent.)

Show me some transfer talent!

If Giorgi is the starting C its going to be back to the days of not being able to buy a stop.

I don't think our 3 point shooting is as much of a glaring issue as some would think.
We were 37% for the season on 524 attempts.
Michigan was 38.7% on 400 attempts.
Baylor - the best 3 point shooting team is 41.8% on 409 attempts.

There's definitely room to improve, but I wouldn't call it a glaring issue.

Disclaimer: I think we have the opportunity to be more dangerous next year. We could even be the best 3 point shooting team
In my view the only issue is that we shot too many. I would have liked to see 10-15% of those three attempts dropped down to our AA center. But, only if he learns to kick it out if he draws a double or without hesitation if he draws a triple team. Seemed to be probably the easiest to fix weakness we had as a team this year. Of course, teams sagging on Kofi probably led to more open threes.

Baylor had 593 3 point attempts this year. I think you used their 409 free throw attempts by mistake.

Michigan had 468 3 point attempts. I think you used their 400 free throw attempts by mistake.

You did get the Illinois number right though. 1 out of 3 is not so good in 3 pt land. 🤷‍♂️

FWIW Correct Total 3 pt attempts are:
Baylor 593
Illini 524
scUM 468 on many fewer games
:poop:

Adam Miller was a 3 and D guy this year. Hope I’m wrong, but I’m not sure I see him making this big leap to elite scorer/shot creator that some are predicting. He sort of reminds me a bit of Rich McBride if we go back some. Just a little stiff, and not super fluid like most of the elite wing scorers are.

I can see Rich I can also see DJ Richardson whereas some see Brandon Paul..

We'll see.

Looked at the transfer portal, thanks for the link BTW. I realized how little I know beyond teams that the Illini played, or that I have seen in the tourney. Mostly checked the players from teams that I know a little. Among guys transferring I noticed Chase Adams, Jordyn Adams, and Quadry Adams. Question: Is this the entire Adams family? Thanks!
