no not kofi 5 star center Enoch Boakye

(You youngsters can google that one...yes, I'm even older than JCL)
This seems unlikely.1989 and 2005 really changed our fortunes. Had we won either of those years we would have been getting top tier recruits a lot more often.

Hey, we won the Big Ten AND finished 3rd in the NCAA tournament in 1951.
I used to be with 'it', but then they changed what 'it' was. Now what I'm with isn't 'it' anymore and what's 'it' seems weird and scary. It'll happen to you!
That cuonzo styleSo, Hurley hired Boakye's HS coach as an assistant coach? We are Charlie Brown. God, I hate recruiting.
Well Hurley wasn't able to make the NIT with a returning all conference 1st team guard, a McDs AA 1st round draft pick and a top 30 player, he's got to try something. So, Hurley hired Boakye's HS coach as an assistant coach? We are Charlie Brown. God, I hate recruiting.
I have had ASU season tickets for the past 7 years and have seen 95% of their games either in person or on TV. My kids earned full scholarships to ASU, so very familiar with the program , but not an insider. Bobby Hurley is much better than previous recent coaches at ASU, but not star caliber. At the end of this year (which was rocked by Covid problems) 6 players decided to leave ASU, including Verge who many will remember from Illini recruiting efforts. They played very poorly down the stretch and there was speculation Hurley would leave the program. So, Hurley hired Boakye's HS coach as an assistant coach? We are Charlie Brown. The only quality player that appears to be retained by Hurley (at this point) is Marcus Bagley (brother of Marvin of Duke fame). So no real team for Enoch to come to. I see comments that ASU is hiring his HS coach... something has to be up as there is no real reason to sign with ASU at this point. Hurley is starting over at this point with the loss of all the players, so that "HS Coach" comment would make sense. Can't imagine any other reason a top recruit would sign with Hurley. It almost seemed as though players were jumping ship to get out of the program.
Anyone else think TyTy looks a lot like Snoop from the Wire?To everyone that hasn’t seen Tyty play, drop everything and go to Twitter right now. I’ve seen him play (virtually) maybe 15x now and he’s seriously one of the best scoring guards I’ve ever seen at the HS level. Absolute NBA talent at 6’4” and imo Top 15 overall player in the 2021 class. A backcourt of Belo, Ace & Tyty would be SPECIAL. He’s that good I’d take him over Nimari any day
According to Twitter, no TyTy, no Enoch, no Nimari.
What applies is that another coaching staff closed the deal and we did not. Unfortunately, this applies to Illinois basketball far too often.Which of the usual suspects applies?
A. "We didn't want him anyway"
B. "_______ hired his dad/mom/brother/coach/girlfriend"
C. "He couldn't clear admissions"
D. "$omething $hady"
E. "We backed off because someone better is coming"
I don't know if that (hiring his coach) is the case, but saw comments here about hiring his coach. Why would he commit to Hurley when most of the team jumped ship and there was speculation that Hurley might be leaving ASU (front page of AZ Republic this past week). Enoch committing to ASU does not make sense unless something like hiring his coach (which I have no knowledge of) or something else is up. Hurley is basically starting over from a player standpoint. Why would Enoch commit to a team that, based on current personnel, be picked to finish close to last in the league next year based upon current personnel? Wouldn't he want to play with a contender? Of course, if Hurley does get Enoch, maybe others would come. This wasn't a joke?

I guess you missed WeWillWhen's post. I guess the correct answer is (B) in this case...unless it's the usual answer: (F) "all of the above."I don't know if that (hiring his coach) is the case, but saw comments here about hiring his coach. Recruiting these next few months is going to be crazy. There are several high level transfers and recruits that have reached out to the staff, we will get very good players when it is all said and done. TyTy still is looking good, Nimari has kind of turned into a disaster with all of these schools getting involved. Like I said, we are in the running for several top transfers. We will be very good again next year. Things are changing every minute and every hour, but there are big things coming

unfortunately ASU made a move that we couldn't topStill a 48hr timeline on the middle spot?
