Actually, Hester was here and gone a few years before Bill Self hired McClain. Coach McClain won several state titles and was a legend in Illinois HS coaching circles. He Had the credentials and a reputation as an awesome defensive coach.
Sergio McClain wanted to go to Indiana but Marcus Griffin didn't want to play for Knight. Kruger got the job and hired Judson who was at Bradley at the time and knew Griffin, McClain and Williams. They committed to Krueger

Keep an eye on who goes in the transfer portal in the next couple of days........there's going to be a couple of big ones
UW (Washington) has 5 guys in the portal including 3 starting players; two guards. Both averaged about 10 points a game. Tsohonis, 6 3 combo guard sophomore, and Stevenson, former Wichita State shooting guard. Some talent there. Hopkins fired most of his staff following the 20 loss season. Players want out.

UW was a major disappointment this season. Don't really blame the players for wanting to bail out.

Sophomores Tre' Williams and Sam Freeman became the latest Gophers basketball players to enter the transfer portal on Friday, they both confirmed to the Star Tribune.
Williams, who joins fellow starting guards Marcus Carr and Jamal Mashburn Jr. in the portal, averaged 5.8 points and 2.5 rebounds in 27 games. The 6-10 Freeman averaged 6.9 minutes in 18 games in a reserve role this season. Both Williams and Freeman are from Texas.

The next couple weeks should be interesting. As of right now I know Aarman Franklin is interested (hasn't changed since I mentioned it a few days ago) and there's a couple names out there that I'm still waiting on.

Aarman has nice size at 6'4 and shot 42% from 3 and had 4.1 rpg. Those are numbers I would take from a guard all day every day especially if Trent is gone.

I didn't know that Podz AAU coach was that heavily involved with his recruitment, but he just tweeted that he wanted to put any gossip to rest with the recent hire--Brandin Podziemski will not be considering Marquette as an option. Not sure what to think about that tweet.

Franklin would be a nice replacement for Trent. Has good size and shoots great from the 3. Still feel we need someone to take the last shot. Obviously Ayo may have been the best in program history. Right now you put the ball in Curbs hands, he just needs to develop his outside shot. If Kofi returns, obviously you make him a treat to score in close games.

Timmy Allen (Utah) just put his name in the portal. He might be the absolute best fit available on the transfer market. I don't see a connection between him and the program so it's probably wishful thinking.

There will be a long line for Timmy.

We dont need to rebuild anything IMO.
Georgi, Miller,Curbelo, Granison, and Hawkins, could run with anyone in the big 10.
The team is as athletic as an NBA team now the need to figure out how to defend an NBA teams offense sets, which will help with this damn tournament.
Doubtful
Grandison averaged 4.5 ppg
Hawkins averaged 1.4 ppg
Going to need a little help from the transfer portal to compete for B10 titles.

Oh I get it he hates Catholics and bratwurst, real cool man.

Either that or his ex-gf is going there and he does not need that kinda drama for 4 more years.

Btw, not sure where this should go, but with all this Peoria talk... sorry to hear of Stan Albeck’s passing. Some good years at Bradley, and loved him during ABA years.
Following the Versace scandal, Albeck seemed like a good hire. He inherited talent , but couldn’t sustain the program. I really think he was more suited to the pro game.

Adam Miller gets the last shot. Without Ayo around, it is his time to shine.

With what is on the transfer list and what is in our recruiting pipeline. I am rooting for no more Sr. in high school's getting scholarships (certain exceptions of course) and getting Underwood and Co all over this transfer list. After the season we had, we may mop up in the transfers.
