That Toppin guy looks to me can play some cameo minutes as 5 next season and we can wait for his development. Minaya cannot play 5 at all and we will be left with only Finke as a legit center.

Minaya would more then likely RS, since he is talking about going to a prep school for a year. Black is more of a center then Finke. Coach BU has said it a number of times already, they really don't give a position as far as offence goes, its more who you can guard for them

Also Minaya said he is playing the EYBL to show he can guard the 1-5 so he himself thinks he can guard the 5

I'm willing to bet that FB regrets it at some point. All his athleticism in that offense. :tsk: But I guess while he's standing around, he'll be able to wear the number of his choosing.

I sometimes find it amazing, amusing and often downright arrogant how we can be as fans.

Let's be honest, do you think FB will enjoy playing in the NCAA tournament and probably for ACC championships in his four years?

We are likely NOT a tourney team next year, and at best a bubble team the following year. Hopefully, strong emphasis on the hope, Underwood has us more competitive in year three, possibly shooting for Big Ten championships after that and a true player at that. But if you are FB, why not take the more likely opportunity?

We are selling hope. Nothing wrong with that at this time, but UVA can sell results.

Dale Earnhardt Jr?

Flightaware says FSR511 is in Concord N.C. Who's in Concord??

Dale Earnhardt Jr? - Charlotte International Speedway

Seriously though looking at NC, Concord kid makes the most sense, Charlotte could be reasonable, High Point kids probably only if it is 2 birds with one stone...so I'm guessing 2018 Hamilton.

2017
92 Lavar Batts
G - Concord, NC - Robinson - 6'1" - 165 - NC State

2018
34 Jaylen Hoard
F - High Point, NC - Wesleyan Christian Academy - 6'8" - 200
(Listed OSU under Underwood, but GSO would be logical airport)

35 Jairus Hamilton
F - Concord, NC - Cannon School - 6'7" - 221

37 Devon Dotson
G - Charlotte, NC - Providence Day - 6'1" - 170

91 - Aaron Wiggins
F - High Point, NC - Wesleyan Christian Academy -6'6"-180

2019
7 - Patrick Williams
F - Charlotte, NC - West Charlotte - 6'6" - 185

Having just completed numerous college visits (from Michigan to Clemson) with my son, I would say Virginia/Charlottesville has only the following advantages over Illinois/C-U:

1. Academics
2. (Recent) quality of program
3. Coach
4. Conference (ACC>Big10)
5. Co-eds
6. Campus aesthetics -- their campus is gorgeous!

That leaves us with perhaps Style of Play. Without any allegiance to our state, FB made a pretty sound choice in my view.

Go Illini!

It is also a much easier trip from Italy for his parents and for him to go home from time to time.

All these offers already from this staff. I can't express how happy that makes me.

Minaya has a smaller body than DJW (shorter and lighter in weight) as of now, so I do not see him to make any contributions to center position next season. We really need someone to cover the minutes when LB/MF gets into foul trouble or even injured.

ok you might be right on height and weight BUT when the kid himself says “I want to show that I can guard almost every position — from 5 to 1,” that's better then someone posting well he is 6-10 so he can play center. and NO they aren't after him to be the center for the team, That is why we are still trying to get JT. but it is nice to hear a young man say he wants to show he can guard anyone they need him to.

If everyone on here could just accept that recruits make decisions that are in their best interest, then our fanbase would be much more pleasant.

It isn't the worst thing in the world to be gracious in defeat you know.

True.

His idea of going to prep school isn't about ability to play right away. It is about him getting the kind of scholarship offer he wants from the school he wants. Things are happening a little late for him and he has said he would go to prep school if an option he wants doesn't develop. Maybe now that he's getting the Power 5 offers, prep school looks less desirable.

And how many of these offers are commitable or is it first come first served.:D
