I actually never knew that. I always assumed Meanstreets was from Chicago.

I'm pretty sure they are. Whoever was working the MIF twitter was probably feeling pretty salty after losing to them again. And fwiw that tweet was deleted about half an hour after it was posted. I mean MS is Tai Street's team and he was born in Chicago, went to Thornton, coaches at Thornton, went to college at Michigan and played professionally for the Lions- no Indiana ties at all. Just MIF being MIF after a rivalry loss.

EJ Liddell doesn't need to take any advice from the East Saint Louis head coach. We saw what happened with Tilmon

I am not so familiar with AAU Basketball, I was just wondering who pays for some of these teams to play all over the country. I am sure not all these families have that kind of means. Is it the shoe companies?

Can't argue with how well Francis Okoro rebounds the ball. One of the best in America at going and getting the ball. Top-50 2019 big man

He has been ferocious the 2nd half of this game. Funny, last night I watched Beal and thought I'd rather have Liddell -- more polished offensively and still a beast in the lane. Today I'm thinking Okoro would be a hella rim protector and putback guy.

So let's just get both.

It's a mixture or fundraising, families paying, and sponsorships.

Both are huge pieces as we are going to need some guys who can mix it up in the paint

Think all the shoe money goes to the very top big boy teams.

My Kid played some regional AAU tournaments and players paid their own way. We were just ok and won less than 50% of our games, and were not on the same level as a MIF type team. Glad the best guys are able to be helped to play across the country.

WWhile we are on the "who pays" train of thought; who pays for these guys to come down to Florida and train at IMG in football, basketball, baseball, tennis, soccer… You name it. They have an incredible facility and come from all over the world, sometimes as young as 14 or 15 years old, in the case of tennis and soccer. In the case of the basketball and football players, they are often some of the top recruits in the country.

You pay to go to IMG camps. For example a one week basketball camp will start at about $1,400. The five week camp is around $7,500 if I remember correctly. Having a high level kid that needs specialized training isn't cheap.

My brother was a nationally ranked wrestler and luckily the community got behind him and helped raise money for him to go to the camps like these.

Chippy would be one easy way to describe the Brad Beal/Team Penny matchup. Francis Okoro has again been awesome this evening.

Beal and Penny playing for first place in their EYBL division.
This game finished at around 1 am CT last night. Okoro 13 pts/16 rbs; EJ Liddell 8 pts/11 rbs

#illini '18 bball recruit Talen Horton-Tucker on changing AAU programs: Wasn't the right fit at this time, not sure what program moving to.

Very interesting. Wonder if he ends up with Caron Butler out of Racine on Adidas circuit. Best friend Messiah Jones left Meanstreets to play with them and has had a really good spring. MS had him playing strictly in the post, at Butler he's been playing away from the basket as well and showing what else he can do besides rebound and put back.

I guess I could go across the street and ask.

L.J. Figueroa is going the JUCO route, per Jon Rothstein (@JonRothstein) on Twitter. Kramer was spot-on.

Apparently there is some big news inbound this week. Possibly in both senses. No, I don't have names.

Maybe Antigua should go back after Corbin Merritt....the kid seems to be pretty good considering his ranking...verballed to FAMU

Verballed to FAMU when they wanted Rod Strickland for a coach, didn't get him...

Considering this late stage, we could do worse, this kid seems to have a tremendous upside and has only verballed based on information being told to him...USF was recruiting him previously?

I thought Merritt signed a LOI to FAMU
