4 Illini Crystal Balls for Parker Braun. Didn't see this posted anywhere earlier, if I missed it, just pretend this post doesn't exist.

This time yesterday two for LSU and none for ILL. That’s a lot of momentum.

Sounds like it's happening. A good backup plan I think and someone who can be a nice player.

Longer term, we need to elevate our recruiting if we are going to take more steps. Still hoping for a Cunningham/Caroline type player to magically appear.

To elevate our level of recruiting, this season with the young guns we coming, success and some consistency need to happen. We have Ayo , with Whitney as our #1target, I think this is good way to start. We are in toddler steps, big boy steps next up. Need to pull them pants on to put on the shoes. Very satisfied where we are at. The last swing and a miss was because our winning is not happening, that changes so will level of recruits. ;):illinois:

Just remember that Craig Tiley and Mike Small turned a cold weather school with almost no history of success in either sport into a national tennis and golf power. Neither of them did it overnight, however. Both took several years to get things turned around.

If the right coach can do that in sports where Illinois has a clear and objective disadvantage, how much easier will it be for a good coach to make Illinois relevant in a sport where we have been good-to-great for most of our existence and where we have many built-in advantages?

History starts with winning. Whether it’s a big time player or group of players who get it started, or a big time coach, top programs don’t start without winning.

Once you have one of those then that’s how you get top recruits every year.

Hopefully BU can be that coach and bring in/mold those big time players.

On Braun...loooong arms. Plays bigger than 6'8. Kinda like Finke, with more spring and quickness. If he keeps his quickness and adds size and develops....could be an awesome get.

Give that employee a raise for the hot tip. Why would you buy Illini gear if you didn't plan on being an Illini?

Did you see the news item today about a 25-year-old man, posing as a 17-year-old, who enrolled at a Florida high school (I think) so he could play basketball. I think the story said he led his conference in some category. He was arrested.

Except for the security implications, it was a funny story.

According to the story he scored more than just on the court as well.

I asked for more on Cunningham, but never got a response:(
Figured there was a contact to staff going there.;):illinois:

All I was told was that it is not a done deal that Cunningham stays at Dayton.

Not saying that if he chooses to leave he is 100% going to ILL, but ILL would be in consideration should he choose to leave and would have a good shot at landing him.

Also, for all you guys that don’t have Snapchat. Malcolm Hill just got on Mark Smith real bad about wearing a Mizzery Shirt. Even went as far to say as it, “looked like pee.” Made my day. :shield:

Which I think may carry some bench time...in a cell.

"At least one 14-year-old girl at Hillcrest High School told her parents that he kissed and touched her... High schoolers knew him as 17-year-old Rashaun Sidney Robinson. In reality, he was 25-year-old Sidney Bouvier Gilstrap-Portley." http://www.fox7austin.com/news/texa...yed-basketball-at-disds-hillcrest-high-school

Back on subject. Was kind of thinking we would hear something either way about Braun by last night?

:huh: What are Parker's actual measurements? I've seen 6'7, 6'8, 6'9 and a list from his high school of 6'10. (I know how the school programs are though. I was a 6 foot PG all four years when I was actually 5'9):D

At first, he was 6'7. Then he grew a little bit and got listed at 6'8. Then it happened again. IF we can take anything away from this, it that his growth plates are open.

How does a kid have offers from AZ, LSU, and a few other P5s and still be unranked?

Late spring offers =/= normal recruiting summer/fall offers.

And AZ is in a worse spot than us, they lost their whole recruiting class. But it's nice to see other P5s going after him.

Like Cunningham as a veteran and experienced big body. But I don't think he fits BU system at all. BU system calls for active motors, constant cuts and picks. Passing and outside shooting for the big men. I like Cunningham's game in a vacuum, but at a part of the BU offense not so much. On defense not a rim runner, not sure he would be a better defender or rebounder than who we have. Please don't quote me his stats, I like to rely on my two eyes and how he will do in Big Ten competition. We saw last year our best players played well in the Big Ten and many did well in the softer part of the schedule.

He was 6-7 last summer. He has grown almost three inches this year. That’s one reason he is wanted by some good schools. Needs strength but has skill.

Yup. This late in the process, teams are trying to fill out rosters. Especially now that transfers are so common, there's just no reason not to take guys late. If they pan out, great. If not, they'll likely move on. It's just how the game is played these days.
