From another site!

Braun and his dad stopped at Gameday Spirit and bought a couple of Illini T-shirts and an Illini Polo. Dad put on the shirt as soon as it was paid for. The source is the person who checked them out.

We should honestly probably wrestle with this more than we do.

How many of the big recruits that spurned us ultimately made the wrong decision from a basketball perspective? Not many.

That isn't really a fair analysis. How would Illinois have done if some of those guys had chosen to play for them?

If Brunson had played for Illinois instead of Villanova, would Villanova still have had the same success and would Illinois still have been bad?

How about if Anthony Davis had chosen Illinois over Kentucky? Would Illinois have been in a Final Four and Kentucky not gotten their title? Davis was that much of a difference maker.

Would Illinois have been much better with Evan Turner playing with McCamey and how would that have affected Ohio State? I remember at least two games where Turner single-handedly beat us.

Joe Pleasant is the 'go to' guy on the team.

"One of the frequent issues last year was foul trouble for Parker Braun, something that he needs to avoid this year to avoid exposing a weaker bench unit. Oftentimes, the senior forward would find himself in the air on pump fakes, or not keep his arms vertical, landing him with unnecessary fouls. "

Not surprising. The other side of the coin of his aggressiveness.

No, that's a good and fair point. And for marginal cases like, say, Iman Shumpert, you could see that making a telling difference.

But in other cases, like Brunson, I think you look back and clearly see that the kid and his family objectively made the correct basketball decision for Jalen and his future.

That article is from before the season started. How did things actually play out?

Ok, how about Cliff Alexander? Would he have been better off at Illinois?

Is his dad named Lloyd?

Why can't we all be like Lloyd Braun?

With the performances of Evans at OSU (under BU) and Frazier last year, I have high hopes for guards here. If Ayo comes in and succeeds near that level I think we can call it a trend?

Don't rule out Josh Cunningham quite yet.

With your recent rubbing elbows at Indy Eybl, you might have an insider spot with staff. Been no noise about Cunningham ever except on this board. Would be a nice thing to grab him, but think BU is not hip on 5th year players?

If you more insight do tell!:gossip:

Do like the Braun sightings and info and store purchase. Would that indicate a new dress style for a new lifestyle? I mean, where would you be wearing such clothing?;):illinois:

Yeah honestly, even with Mark Smith's time here being a bust, its arguably better for us to have a (relatively) unheralded recruit like Frazier burst onto the scene.

I honestly can't remember the last time that happened for us in the last 10+ years. Gives me hope for the staffs ability to develop players (something that we've been sorely missing in past regimes).

Any thoughts on the last non-top 75 player to have a great freshman season for us?

Yeah I don't really count Smith because of the uniqueness of being embedded in baseball more than basketball. The thing that strikes me about Frazier is his instincts. Smith just hasn't developed those basketball instincts required to be a P5 guard. He may in time.

Frazier has them and I believe Ayo does too. These instincts play well in BU's offense. Vision and passing come to mind.

Smith looked like he was wearing those old black rubber 4 buckle snow boots when he was playing defense. He needs to work on his lateral movement big time while he develops a feel for the game. Not wishing him bad except on Border War day but I'm honestly glad he left.

I wonder how many top 100 recruits played for SFA when they went on their run in the tourney and beat WVU. Brad Underwood will be given a lot of time here to be successful.

Groce was always the bridesmaid. :(

Groce has one thing going for him: charisma.

Wasn’t enough. Underwood has charisma, a track record of success, and a proven offensive system that matches what the NBA has been evolving towards.

Give that employee a raise for the hot tip. Why would you buy Illini gear if you didn't plan on being an Illini?

Did you see the news item today about a 25-year-old man, posing as a 17-year-old, who enrolled at a Florida high school (I think) so he could play basketball. I think the story said he led his conference in some category. He was arrested.

Except for the security implications, it was a funny story.

4 Illini Crystal Balls for Parker Braun. Didn't see this posted anywhere earlier, if I missed it, just pretend this post doesn't exist.
