Okoro should be top priority for '19, Adam Miller top priority for '20 IMO.

I think the key is making them all think they are top priority...in 19 we should have a bunch of schollies open (5) and it will be a big year to reload.

Lists 8 best 2019-20 kids, 7 of whom we either are, were or will be in on, assuming Brayboy's recent visit meant we're going to pursue him. (Hope we do, he looked pretty good in the MIF u15 videos from the summer.) [FONT=&quot]

Isn't Liddell taller than 6'7"?

'19 is going to be a large class. Fortuitous timing. Landing Okoro is going to be difficult.

I agree, but the key is to make sure that we turn this program around before these classes commit. These kids are 2-3 years down the road, current course and speed will not give us good chances, we have to start making the tournament consistently to give recruits some proof points and confidence that they can stay in-state and also attract kids from neighboring states to UI.

There is a honeymoon period when a coach arrives when selling a turnaround is a little easier (e.g., new coach, we will win, etc.) but 5-7 years into a coach's tenure, you need more proof than we have given recruits so far.

Good point & for 2018 that time is now...so let's pray for health & veteran leadership.

If Groce can make the tournament this year and show that the program is on the right track, he could end up lucking into enough local talent to catapult us back into national prominence. Getting Tilmon, Da'Monte, and Pickett this year from downstate sets the stage. If we end up with two scholarships for 2018, I wouldn't be surprised to see a class of Tim Finke plus a PG (hopefully one of Ramey, Dosunmu, and Garland). Then in 2019, we could be looking at a class built around Okoro (top-25), Marquise Walker (top-100), and EJ Liddell (top-100).

Obviously, Okoro is automatically a long shot: he doesn't have deep ties to the area and we'll be competing against literally everyone for his services. Finke may not come due to fit/room and the 2018 Point Guards are all top-50 kids with endless options. If we have two good years in a row, though, we might become one of the 'it' programs again in a hurry. When the Illini do well, there's no shortage of national press.

Don't think it's going to be Garland. And Ramey and Ayo will both be longshots. Ramey is up to 20-some offers and I almost never see us mentioned in national articles written about him (right now he seems enamored with Louisville). And Ayo will probably be able to pick the blueblood he wants to attend.
But I'd be very happy with Marquise Walker. Think he's going to be better than a lot of people are expecting.

That could end up being the case. I hope we can get him to stay though.

I know everyone is saying Wilkes to UCLA, but he's going to be a Hoosier. It's been that way for a few months.

Like a Hoosier in High School for his Senior year because he lives in Indiana, that kind of Hoosier? Trick question?

Generally, this is the point in time where "insiders" delete their account or get their feelings super hurt regarding sharing their information and go pout in the corner.

I think I like this more?

After Wilkes commits to UCLA, I hope Indy Orange sticks to his guns and insists that a decommitment is imminent. Then after the season starts, I hope he regularly posts that Wilkes is planning to transfer home to play for Crean. After Wilkes goes pro, I'm hoping for rumors that he's silently committed to join the Hoosier staff when his playing days are over.

And paying for the scholarship costs of a few 5star walk-ons to make amends?

For the record, I still wouldn't be surprised to see Wilkes commit to IU, despite all the UCLA buzz lately. The only thing that would truly shock me is a commitment to Illinois.

Or come back to Indiana to finish his degree
