Illinois Hoops Recruiting Thread

Obviously has to be SLU related. Those involved on that side of the fence are snakes.

Let's just hope this young man isn't swayed by nonsense.

**i know nothing-this is just my educated, historically nut-punched Illini self talking.

From the SLU board -
"I'm thinking its time to get serious about Tillmon at this point. A friend of mine who follows Illini close says, "id be surprised if he doesn't pick SLU at this point, he knows the speculation... if he wanted to end it he would"

I don't know why a person would back out of a verbal commitment the week of the LOI signing and sign somewhere else, giving the former team no chance to work with signing other players. It's the worst kind of worst. Even if you verbal and have second thoughts, waiting until the day of the LOI is the ultimate slap in the face.

Hoping this doesn't happen and that all goes like it's supposed to.

I heard from a friend from St Louis that has "decent" connections that Tilmon is still 50/50 SLU Illini. Just sharing. I know if seems like he is a committed Illini because he has been on campus a lot and helping recruit. I sure hope he stays. I am assuming he thought Goodwin would follow. I am not claiming to know anything just sharing what a friend with decent connections told me.

Good info. I've heard the same around the area down hear. Like you, I'll point out that I'm just passing what I have heard, not what think or claim to know. Unfortunately, many times on this board if what you pass along isn't favorable for our illini, it's met with quite a bit of skepticism, when in reality many of the negatives have unfortunately come to fruition over the last few years. Just a pattern I've seen from lurking. But anyway, choose to believe it or not. If not, no problem, just ignore it. Let's just see what happens these next few days and hope we can get his signature on that paper.

Heard his car broke down on the interstate and he couldn't make it.....

Thanks for that heads up!

You would think with all those Indiana fans, someone would have stopped and given him a ride.

I swear if Trent could sign and fax at midnight he would. He would stare at the clock and wait to see it then 12am and sign. As far as Tillmon goes he may or may not come but to take and waste so much time on campus and spurn Illinois at last second after talking about loyalty will make him one of the most hated men in Illinois. The Chicago tournament could be a real bad place to be for him and his team. Then to leave the guys who been with him idk just doesn't look good for him. Also to go be coached by one of the worst in NCAA makes little sense but this is Illinois

Totally agree with this. From spouting loyalty as the biggest reason for committing in the first place to POSSIBLY pulling something like this the day before signing day... yikes.

I can't take this. Gordon, Snider, Tilmon???
I sure hope not. I knew a Cubs World Series would be offset by some other bad sports news.

This would be an entirely different level of wrong, IMO.

Snyder had no actual ties to us and only started getting recruited until after getting pushed out at Lou.

Tilmon has been recruited by Groce since he was, what, 15? Would be be Gordon level.

Need somebody that can actually coach to be good. Travis Ford can't do that

Not saying they will be Kentucky, but that talent at SLU level expectations, they will be really good. Looks like they will land our top 2 targets as a mid major we can hate all we want but think about it.

If only we could actually play the game and just drop off a truck load of money to a player like every other team does. SLU has some deep pockets

No doubt about that but I was meaning more on signing day with no warning
