What I like about that lineup is that the whole team is likely going to be there in 2018 too

Senior Black, JCL, and DJW make me so happy. Junior TJL and Soph JT put it over the top. Hoping DJW stays. Worried he's gonna leave, which would make our 3 in a weird flux, especially in 2017. I think if he does leave, 2018 is gonna be just fine. Probably would be in the market for a 5th year wing next year if thats the case. I think DJW can become a more athletic Hill, maybe not as adept at scoring at all levels or someone who can take over, but its possible.

Keep thinking about next year's rotation as we stand now.

1 TJL/TF

2 JCL/AJ/DMW

3 DJW/JP

4 LB/KN

5 JT/MF (really wanted Kiir)

Believe this team will be much quicker and will develop over the year. Weak point will be inexperienced PG initially but upside could be huge. Would actually like to see more of MF at 5 this year to give us more quickness. Appears to me that Groce has given up speeding up the action this year as he doesn't have the personnel. Could do it with this team. Believe quickness is key ingrediate for great defense and is where championships are built. Always going to have off shooting nights.

Here is my guess:

C Tilmon, 5th year big
F Black, Finke
F Nichols, DJ Williams, Pickett
G JCL, DaWilliams, Jordan
G Frazier or Lucas

With Damonte, I am assuming that he does not have something bad like an ACL tear that would put him behind. Nichols is a three who can play the four, not a four who can play the three, imo.

I don't wanna go too far down this lineup rabbit-hole since there's a thread on this already, but I'll through out a few observations on our incoming guys:

Tilmon and Frazier will both have significant roles next year. Tilmon will be our starting center, but Frazier is going to get a lot of PT as well. Given his scoring ability, I think he'll be able to partner with another PG in the backcourt. A lot like Abrams and Tate/TJL this season.

Da'Monte (assuming health) is probably the next most likely to see playing time since we'll need ballhandling to replace Tate and Abrams. And although I think Pickett has a chance to be pretty good, I wouldn't be surprised if he redshirted next year given our depth on the wings (especially at the 3).

I like your thinking. I think we need a quick leaping 6-9 and up to complement and back up Tilmon. Probably best to find a 5th year transfer. Even mid-majors have these type of players, need to find one who wants to transfer.

Depends what feedback Tilmon gets IMO.

I think the advice will be come back for a sophomore season and polish up some things.

Im pretty sure thats often the feedback given. And then ignored.

Often? Not really. In desperate situations where a player can't be eligible the next season perhaps.

Players heed the advice given by nba guys involved in the draft.. Hence the reason so many declare and don't hire an agent.

I'd imagine right now he thinks he's a one and done. Plenty of kids do.

Thats definitely a certainty.

my guess would be
c Tilmon, 5th year, Finke and hope we find another FR
F Black, Kipper(only cause JG said that where he is learning this year) Finke
f DJ Will, Picket, Kipper
g JCL Jorden Frazier
g Lucas Frazier DA will if DA knee is bad he red shirts so like what we are dealing with in football doesn't happen to him. take a full year off and get it healthy

I missed Groce saying that about Nichols. When was that? Kipper has been practicing with the team for a year now. The few times I have seen him he was playing wing and mostly matched up with Hill.

Versatility is the key on Nichols. Groce did say he can guard 1-4. He always liked to guard the opponent's best player in HS. Hill has commented about Nichols being a handful in practice.
Of course he will be scrutinized early because there are some on here who think he is a 3*/Tulane recruit/who can't beat out DJW. Time will tell. :)
FT shooting and mid range shooting are strong, if there is a weakness it is his 3 pt shot.
High motor guy who does not play soft--I think we can use one of those. :thumb:

I see a lot putting DJ in rotation. Is he even going to be here next year?

Outside of DJW's mom on Twitter during the West Virginia loss and fans wanting to see him play, I don't think there has been any indication that he won't be. Malcolm will be gone so minutes will be available to him if he earns them. He came from a Simeon program that preached that unless you were Jabari Parker or D Rose, you waited your turn until you were an upperclassman to start.

Rotation for me:
Tilmon/Finke
Black/Kipper/Finke
DJW/Kipper/Jordan/Pickett
JCL/Jordan/Williams/Frazier
Lucas/Frazier

A lot of Laphroaig orange kool-aid and you see this in 2018

Augustine = Tilmon
Powell. = Black
Head. = Coleman-Lands
Brown = Frazier
Williams = Da Williams

Think about it.

Nichols -1" height, +10 lbs weight, +5" vertical vs Leron. Should be able to play the 4.

Lands not quote the athlete of Head. The Powell-Black comp is really interesting. High motor guys. Frazier has me intrigued. Actually this holds until you get to PG.

Hope DaMonte can become a multiple time NBA All star......

If DaMonte is as good at changing speeds as his Pops was he has a chance to be a NBA player.
