You need to have quite the stomach to be a high major coach. Basically expect them all to go elsewhere until they actually sign.
They get paid enough.

Just because these are internet celebrities who are 6'8" doesn't mean they aren't still 17 year olds. Letting kids choose colleges totally independent of other influences would be great for schools with hot girls and great weather, but would be disastrous for the Cornell's of the world.
I wanted to go to UNLV once. My parents quickly disabused me of that notion.
When you're dealing with an AAU coach who is personally being paid under the table to pressure a player and than money doesn't flow back to a kid and his family, that's shameful. But when the family wants to put a kid in an environment they can control, or accept financial benefits that will improve their lives including the kid, that's just rational decision making.
People tend to think this is all about hundred dollar handshakes and envelopes of cash. We know that happens, but I suspect the schools that do the best job of influencing recruits with financial benefits help families with access / introductions to good jobs.
@WCIA3Bret
Just got word that 5-star #Illini commit Jeremiah Tilmon is NOT considering going to SLU, according to a source close to the situation
@WCIA3Bret
"SLU was never in the picture"
"Give him some time and he will talk, no one knows what Jeremiah wants to do but Jeremiah"
It is possible this is an academic thing, as in hasn't qualified yet? And we are all way off base...
If it's true SLU isn't in the picture, it sounds like JT is simply seeing how the season plays out in regards to Groce's future, like others have implied. Kansas getting involved again isn't a shocker in that case.
If this is the case couldn't the AD provide the necessary declaration that this isn't a thing?
I think people are forgetting the only reason he transferred to La Lu is because the East STL teachers were on strike so he was scared he wouldn't be able to graduate on time. La Lu was a school that would let him play right away. Any other IHSA school probably would have made him sit out a year.Those comments are just a smoke screen. No inside info but he's got to be thinking about flipping to SLU. Ford hires former AAU coach. Goodwin commits. He moves back to EStL. Gordon commits. That's where everything is pointing, that's got to be why he's not signing.
