What is the deal with Verge? Is everyone afraid of his grades and won't qualify? skill set? personality? something else?

I know nothing about him, which is why I am asking.

We know how this goes. Bet your life on him not being a 5-star and McDAA when all is said and done. But there's no difference between 18 and 35. Kid is a stud, and one that will probably still be on the team in two years.

i actually think this is a rare occasion where we will see one of our commits stay the same if not rise their senior year.. i think his injury has kept his ranking in check and that people may have forgotten how good he is

And let's really put all the cards on the table here.

The Groce era is on a knife edge. It could go either way in a matter of weeks. Tilmon's comments about Jamall Walker today certainly open the door to retaining both of them under a new staff. Having that option to mull is great news.

Verge was All-State as a Sophomore at Willowbrook. Transferred to Proviso West for his Jr. year, was declared ineligible by IHSA, so he transferred to Arlington Country Day school in Florida. Now he's back home in Illinois playing for Harvey Thornton.

Basically, 4 high schools in 3 years and no one has seen him really play consistently in a couple of years. Talent is clearly there though.

Welcome Jeremiah. Great to see a solid young man of character follow through with his commitment. Looks like you have a nice family, too. Best wishes to achieve all of your dreams at Illinois.

Epp and another player i heard were trying to get back involved with..

But i would be extremely happy with an Epp & verge finish to this class!

Maybe verge gets here but doesnt make it thru the clearinghouse and waits a year or whatever that new rule is...

The point being, there is till alot of high-level talent left out there in this class, and the apring signing period is a very accelerated time where a lot can happen, so...

Any chance you release the name of said recruit? Tugs Bowen possibly? Tilmon and Tugs seemed to be close last year when at La Lum

Very talented kid. Has transfered aLOT, so qualifying will be tough, and there may be other issues.

Reminds me alot of Ryan Boatright (not saying he'll end up being that good).

Now that we have our great class signed and coming. It would be nice to see Illini nation start filling the Hall back up again and support this team fully. Too many nights their has been no electricity in that place. It's been sad and embarrassing.

Well the obvious big fish here that would get people's hearts racing is Bowen. But could it be ICL?

Saying "get back involved with" makes me think someone we were previously involved with but are not anymore, which immediately made me think of Scruggs. But I assume that's not the case seeing as how we have Frazier on board.

Scruggs signed his NLI. Not him. The OP made it sound like we were getting back involved with someone from Indiana but maybe I read that wrong.

UI seems to be in the mix for Epperson.. maybe there is another?

EDIT: Not VJ Bailey or Abu Kigab either, they both signed NLI's with Oregon. Kiir definitely signed with VCU. So really it's Epperson and then maybe Verge, or a bigger name.. or maybe ICL?

Ha, very good point. Did we ever become uninvolved with ICL?
