That's what's important. Couldn't care less about the ranking.

Exactly. He is the type of C that would be a great get at this point in time. There is no chance we get a well developed offensive C this late in the game and so someone with a really high ceiling who looks like he could develop into a defensive force would be key.

It seems like the BPJ ship has sailed (hope I'm wrong), but this guy is BPJ lite

What in the world does race have to do with this story? I could understand if a white coach cut every black kid on the team or vice versa, but cutting one is hardly a good basis for crying racism as some of these folks seem to be doing.

Nepotism is a more credible charge.

I agree that Mr. Finke's decision to cut the player wasn't likely racially motivated.

People are making this a story about race because by all accounts, Baily Dee is one of Central's better players. Bailey is also heading into his senior season, and presumably, trying to earn a scholarship to play basketball somewhere. People are speculating that Bailey was cut so that Tim could feature more prominently on the team.

As a result, a white man cut one of the team's best players (a black man), so that his white son could shine. In the process, this white man removed Bailey's pursuit of playing basketball, and potentially, obtaining a scholarship to attend college free of charge. The optics around this are very bad and I can understand why the African American community is upset.

It should be considered nepotism much more than racism. I believe only a tiny fraction of those involved are saying its racial. Just because prominent local black leaders are voicing opinions doenst mean people are beating the racial drum.

With that being said, How do you cut a 2 year starter his senior year and not have a face to face with him to explain your reasonings behind the cut? Honestly, any player thats been cut should be able to have an honest conversation with the coach to inquire as to why theyve been cut. How else can you improve if you dont know why you didnt make it. That squad must be loaded at PG!

Its not a good look in the least.

Yeah this all seems odd. But in the interest of fairness, you have to consider that Finke isn't in a position where he can come out and give an explanation. He basically has to stay silent. The other side can talk.

Yup

Jeff is a really good guy. He would not have made that decision without a good reason and I'm sure it was not easy. It will be interesting to see what happens with Tim if Jeff is let go. Messy situation.

Following Flo this season is going to be interesting. Gotta think most other schools looking for a big guy will also jump into the picture. Between him and Spicy G, you would hope the staff could turn one of them into a solid player. Imagine the athleticism if one of these 2 are playing alongside Okoro. Teams wouldn't even try to go inside! Match that with Damonte, Smith, and Ayo on the perimeter and our defense could be one of the best in the country.

Haha. Still in love with rankings, eh?

Anyway, this guy is a 6’8” wing and looks like he could provide solid shooting. As far as high school goes, he’s playing against top competition regularly and has a teammate that just committed to Calipari. There aren’t a ton of videos out there on him, but I found a few decent ones.

What a fall!!

Surely he had better options or could have waited until spring even if he didn’t have better options right now. This must have been a choice he wanted to make. I can’t for the life of me figure out why though.

Glad that our coaching staff are dishing our schollies for bigs after setbacks.

I remembered that we wanted Groce to get bigs and guards and just witnessed options to disappear one by one. At last he takes transfers or another wing

Wonder if the situation at Central and Dee has anything to do with this announcement??.....does anyone know what the IHSA rule for transferring is???

He would be ineligible if he transferred. I think even if they moved a good distance (i.e. Clearly out of district) he would have to sit out

Edit: if he moved out of state though, not sure. But then what about Michael?

It could have been the theological angle. GCU is a small Christian college and maybe he just felt his calling. Not out of the question.
