The thing I like most about Liddell is how efficient he is. I've seen him play a ton and in the video posted you can get an idea of how he plays. There's no wasted motion in his game. He never holds the ball. He is always attacking the basket immediately, ready to shoot, or is finding the open man. And he always makes the shots he's supposed to make. He really plays beyond his years and still has two years of high school left to improve. Also, he's 6'7" since that seems to be a debate.

Kind of meh, a lot of layups, but the kid is a bull. I have 0 doubts that he'd be an effective 4 in college, and, although that clip didn't show it, his face up game is good enough to play the 3 too.

I actually like Liddell more than Okoro. Okoro is ranked did highly because of his physical gifts: size, strength, athleticism. Liddell is power and skill.

Let's get both.

Meh was hardly the impression I had seeing the game in person. The layups were a result of knowing where he is on the floor and having a high basketball IQ. If anyone is looking for a lot of flash you likely won’t see it from E.J. but he is a fantastic all around basketball player.

EJ is smooth. Often the best player in high school makes it look easy. like he's coasting.
that was my impression from yesterday. Grimes is the real deal but that team he is on does him no favors. EJ has all the measurables and will grow into a 240 lb beast power forward with nice post moves and the touch to shoot from the perimeter. would be a great get for the illini. i hope too that he is a early commit so we can work on the other 2/3's of a potential great class.

ps, i saw two Duke official looking jackets in the crowd. sure hope the blue bloods don't turn thier attention to him.

I usually know what Tornado is talking about but I have no idea on this one either.

A few weeks ago someone made the comment that one could argue that we have 2 MrBB on the team because if DaMonte had not gotten injured, he would have challenged Mark Smith for the award

I will stand behind that comment... if he hadn't of gotten hurt, he would have challenged talent wise, not as in both would have won it necessarily. :chief:

Does this explain his relatively ( from Illini perspective) low national ranking?

I would compare him if he continues to improve a Carmelo Anthony type of player...he is effortless in many things he does, plays similar pace imo.:chief:

See more of an Antoine Walker. Similiar size and skill set comparable in high school.

Boy, after watching Liddell for a coule games of this tourney Ayo better step up his game to win Mr Basketball. Liddell has been a beast but in a very fundamental sound way. Someone this week made the comp to Larry Johnson (grandmama) and I scoffed at first but now I see it. He is sneaky good from outside (great handle/decent shot) and with his athleticism and is an absolute bully around the hoop initiating, absorbing and finishing thru contact. And he gets off the ground as fast as anybody. He is an elite prospect for sure.

His only weakness I have seen is endurance. If he got with Fletch and Underwood I am not sure he'd be a 4-year Illini. Paraphrasing his coach said in a recent interview, if there are 50 better players in his class I'd like to see them. He has gone up against two elite prospects in past two games and has been the star of each game.

It also does not hurt that Belleville West has really good talent around him too. If you get a chance to watch them...do it!
