Stirring up the fan base is definitely NOT something I want to do. Indy Orange admittedly got a rise out of me, but thats what makes this even more fun to me! He has the courage to come on here so definitively, it just adds to the intrigue. And then add in the element of everything that I'm hearing (from ppl not drunk on IU cranberry juice)... It's exciting!!

So to answer your question, me saying these next couple days are going to be fun simply meant exactly as it read... It's gonna be fun! no Cryptic message or anything...

Even if we don't get Wilkes, and the chances of that are much greater than the chances of him attending the UofI... We have a weekend of Kigab, Kiir on the fence, and then Wilkes! This is the most exciting time recruiting wise since 2014, for me at least.

and what makes it so much better is all the rumors & garbage flyin' around one state over... the suspense is gonna kill me!!

I'm just so glad to see our Beloved back in a barn-burner in the final 3 for a 5* top 20 recruit! It's awesome! Kudos to the staff and the Athletic Department for all the hard work! This time however, my belief is that its time for us to really reap some of the fruits of our labors, & get the program back to National prominence! :shield::shield::shield:

Haha fair enough!

IMO, this is a bit different, there isn't a rush on CBs, at least yet, from news leaking. Virtually nothing is happening on CBs, only one person has jumped on Oregon this month, which isn't surprising with an announcement coming. I think the CBs are more of a reflection on how quiet this recruitment is.

It could also be argued that Illinois fans really didn't even realize that we were in the final 2 for Kigab until it happened and didn't know what time the announcement was as of this morning.. whereas Oregon fans seem to be all over it.

I think the recruitment is quiet from our end for a reason. Kigab has been UO bound for a while. Occam's Razor on this one.

No offense to Kigab, but one of the main reasons there is not a rush of CBs is that he is not as highly ranked. CB is a marketing tool so usually a high number of predictions corresponds to highly ranked recruits. For a player at his level (ranking), I believe 9 predictions is fairly good amount.

I have no information on Kigab, never seen him play. If I had to interpret CBs, I'd say that he has been expected to go to Oregon, and nothing that has happened lately has made people (those 9 analysts who made predictions) to change their mind.

I don't remember seeing this posted...

Per Marquise Walker's father, the St. Joe's sophomore PG will visit Iowa State the weekend of Oct. 14 for Hilton Madness

It was previously posted. Thanks for the reminder though!

A little bit of a different view, but currently, I believe Mayan Kiir is our most important recruit (from the ones with fairly realistic chances) position-wise. No doubt Wilkes is a home run at a different level, but it would probably sting a little more losing Kiir to VCU given expectations.

Well, you can forget about Gordon and Ramey. According to the Kool aid drinkers over on slu billikens boards Gordon is ready to commit to them and most likely Ramey will follow!! Don't you know Ford is gonna have them in the Final 4 in a couple years :D

Not from what I am being told by a SLU booster. He says that they do not have a shot with Ramey, but that Gordon and Watson are definite possibilities. Doubt there is much love between Tate and ramey"s dad as they have competed for aau players. Anyone know which illini played for Ramey s dad aau?

I'm excited about Tilmon, being the big man in the paint that we've needed to clean up the glass, and a PG in Frazier that can hopefully drive the paint and dish to Tilmon for dunks/layups

I wrote a bit about Kigab a few weeks back based on my viewing. He is pretty darn good. Very active and athletic. Can shoot it to three. Plays good defense. Gets on the floor for loose balls. He is a player you can win with. Hence, the reason an outstanding program like Oregon wants him.

Losing Kiir to VCU or NCSt would sting a bit, no doubt. But both of those programs can offer instant playing time at the four. We can't. That is going to be hard to overcome.

Trick question? Pickett. Current roster: Hill, maybe?

I agree on the starting spots. But with the departure of Thorne and Mav, that leaves two spots at C. Tilmon will get one, but in the absence of backup C, Finke will have to play that spot, so there will be some good minutes at PF.

I can definitely understand his concern about playing time, but I wonder if he looks at the class and how much potential it has and just decides to be a part of it. That has to be the one draw for him to Illinois, right?

Illinois shouldn’t be counted out as Wilkes narrows his list to three

This is great news for Illinois. Early in the recruiting process for Wilkes, Illinois was never a serious candidate. Scouts have always had the Indianapolis native leaning toward UCLA or Indiana. For Wilkes to include Illinois in his top-three means there was something that caught his attention.

I think Illinois is clear from the Jalen Brunson effect for now. The Brunson effect occurred when the highly sought after guard from Lincolnshire, Illinois cancelled all of his remaining official visits after trips to Illinois and Villanova, eventually committing to the Wildcats.

If Wilkes had his mind set on a school, he would have announced his decision to cancel his remaining visits earlier. I also don’t think he would include Illinois in his final list. Instead, I believe he would narrow it down to his top-two choices right away.

Sounds like someone has been job shadowing Writing Illini.

So you're saying that you know definitively that Wilkes will sign with IU, and that he is misleading us when he is quoted publicly as saying that he hasn't decided yet?

Not saying he is misleading us or anyone, but you're being very naive if you truly think when someone says to a newspaper that they're undecided they really are undecided. Analyzing every word these kids say usually isn't the best practice. Not saying all of the time, but most of the time these kids try to sound as neutral as possible until the end no matter where they're leaning.

I don't disagree on 9 being a fair number.

The second point is my point as well, the original post started that CB's were reliable this late in the game, I think the CB's just tell us no new information has come out to make anyone change there opinion, however, if it was widely leaked I still would expect there would be a bandwagon pick or 2 to up there CB prediction numbers. Now maybe those guys aren't paying enough attention because of the ranking, west coast, canada,... But it isn't screaming that news is leaking that he has chosen Oregon.

This is essentially a re-hash of conversations that have taken place in this thread.

tl;dr - Koolaid

Man, we've really sunk far when we need a tl;dr summary for a one-line post.

Unless your name is Trent Frazier and you just can contain the Illini love!
