What is the status of Okoro's recruitment? Would love a big guy like that who can move and has some touch.

After our tourney run this year and Tilman's early success next year, Okoro will be calling Groce every day asking for his scholly.

I wish. Things always change and it's early in his recruitment, but the word is that UNC is his dream school. If he keeps his play up, I'm sure that opportunity will become a reality for him. Groce has already offered.

That means that KW didn't explicitly state to JG & Co. that they were better off spending their time elsewhere.

Here's hoping!

I believe that is something that was put together for KW's OV. All of those guys took their OVs on the same weekend.
I thought it was just Wilkes' OV, and the rest were there on Saturday for unofficial visits.

I think they are a pretty straightforward family, if they felt there was little interest with Illinois I'm sure they would communicate it. So I'm cautiously optimistic.

I can't even imagine what Hoosier boosters will be like if Clappy misses on Wilkes (to Illinois no less...) and Scruggs. They're going to want his head on a platter.

I hope not. We want the bobbing along as decidely mediocre another decade or so.

The news on Wilkes is really interesting. Would be fantastic if he commits.

I'm not going to criticize IU or Crean for missing out on in-state recruits. I think they are facing similar issues that have plagued Illinois in the last ten years.

I was wondering when Clappy's reputation and creepiness might actually catch up to him in recruiting. Is it finally happening, or is it just a string of bad recruiting luck (which would obviously change quickly if they still land, say, Kris Wilkes)?

I think we can appreciate that bad luck happens sometimes in recruiting. Sometimes very late in the game, even.

I'm not prepared to announce the death of Clappy, recruiting-wise. Indiana, despite its recent seasons, is still a blueblood.

Not sure what you mean by string of bad recruiting luck but Indiana has been recruiting very well in the last few years, including multiple McD AAs. Crean had problems early on, but that was highly influenced by the mess left behind by Sampson. But he has turned the corner since then, IU has been recruiting well since the early years. So I do not think there is anything contingent on Wilkes.

Let's all take a deep breath and recognize that this is just the staff doing all they can to get Wilkes, IU is very much in the picture still (and most likely still in the lead) after a good OV.

Groce and staff have done a great job, but to think we've beaten Clappy is overstating things.

Sheehey was one of those players that I just hated to play against. Probably how other B10 schools feel about MH.

In this day and age, kids frequently don't "stay home." For a scholarship athlete, you're field to choose from is the whole country. IU (and Purdue and ND) have certainly lost a lot of in-state kids, but they have done well nation-wide to make up for it.

Yup. He's recruited very well, especially out-of-state.
