Polar opposites is probably overstating it, but I do think Crean's history puts him on the far edge of the spectrum of coaches that use this kind of strategy. I'm not sure where Groce fits, but so far I don't see much of a history on his part.
As far as frequency, Crean is one of the worst offenders. But frequency, in comparison to Groce and recruitment at hand, also has to do with opportunities presented. There have not been that many opportunities for Groce to do so, because Indiana has been recruiting at much higher level with respect to top recruits and has had higher expected NBA attrition. But as far as when the opportunity presented itself, even in the absence of NBA defections, Groce had no problem using that practice. That has been established, and I believe you have agreed already.
So with respect to Wilkes recruitment, that started this, it is obviously irrelevant (i.e., IU has expected NBA attrition, and Groce would obviously also do it).
Now the statement that I responded to was stronger (i.e., loyalty/integrity) that extends beyond oversigning. I'd rank Crean much lower obviously, but my opinion of Groce does not put him on the other end of the spectrum or even close to it (and I'm actually OK with that). I'll leave it at that, so we can get back to Wilkes/Kiir recruitment.
