That's a great sign! Nick is preaching loyalty, and Ayo is retweeting it, saying he's loyal and all in. I think this means THT is likely a future Illini and Ayo ain't goin' anywhere. Nice! :thumb::cool::chief:

Oh, and #5/19 is a birthday reference, I've heard. His dad's maybe?

I read it as questioning THT’s loyalty. I’ll take everyone’s word for it that this is a great sign. I have no doubts in Ayo’s loyalty to us.

I can't imagine the staff would give Ayo reason to leave. Not sure where the truth lies.

This is just one more bit of proof to reinforce why I hate the media.

This story just won't go away regardless how many times it is refuted.

Is it "the media" who won't let this story die, or people like us on message boards like these, and twitter, etc?

At the age of 16, THT's growth plate should be wide open to grow to be a true 4 in BU's system;)

Wait, do you have information that only ONE plate is open!? That figures. So Illini. We mightly finally get another star from Simeon and it turns out he'll be totally lopsided, with one leg 4 inches longer than the other! :tsk: I hope it's his right leg, so then it will at least be easier to go left...

You have to give it to Coach Underwood and this coaching staff. They took a sticky situation head on in the last 48 hours and as of tonight have put the Illini mens basketball program back where it belongs. I look forward to tomorrow night and this up coming season.

If THT committing was going to cause Ayo to leave the staff would not be recruiting him. Pretty simple.

Does everyone think that Underwood, Coleman, and Antigua haven't been talking to Ayo's parents? Seriously? They've had many, many conversations, and when Ayo committed, the Dosunmus knew that the Illini were still actively recruiting THT. None of this is a surprise to anyone, so everyone stop worrying.

I mean, I suppose Tate qualifies as the media, but he's also an old curmudgeon, so whatever. I suppose the recruiting news services also qualify as "the media", but they are kind of a strange form of media that wouldn't exist if no drama existed here, so it's in their best interest to play up any drama that may or may not be there.

Can’t wait for the post-THT commitment thread.

If we lose him, we get to keep speculating how Ayo didn’t allow BU to sign THT.

If we get him, we can speculate about when Ayo is going to re-open his recruitment.

Really, a win-win here.

Trump should get the blueprint from Coach Underwood because he is about to build a wall around this state recruiting wise. I have waited for this a long time and thought it impossible. Connections and relationships are set up for the next 3 years on some big fish in the state of Illinois.

Well after tomorrow, what will be reported on between now and spring for recruiting by the media? Look forward to all the wait and see, not on campus, haven't signed yet reports....aye aye aye

Whoa wait.....if he's got one leg shorter than the other then he should be able to run circles around his opponent:cool:

Let's maybe let more than one year go by before declaring the state's top talent to be walled off. When the next Jabari Parker and Jahlil Okafor pair both pick Illinois over Duke, I'll maybe entertain that line of discussion.

It'll be like NASCAR out there! "Horton-Tucker drives left, and cuts off the drive to the left, dribbling now...to his left...and another drive, to his left..."

Something, something, recruiting.

I know most of us don't look over in the sports chat section of IL too often, so I thought I'd interrupt this discussion to note that BP3 has four points for the Spurs tonight (his first NBA points). Congrats, Brandon!

There isn't a Parker or Okafor type of talent but there is talent that can put Illinois back in the national spotlite in a big way. This staff is already positioned to have a great shot to land them. You go ahead and keep your foot on that break but this staff doesn't share your opinion.

I agree we've been able to compete for selected top 50 recruits like Ayo, Tilmon, Black, JCL. In the future, though, I'm hoping our program will have more national recognition and some of the recruiting barriers that have existed for the last decade will disappear, giving us better access to more highly-ranked players. 2017 is somewhat of a baseline and we've already seen BU go national. I expect that to continue with better results.
We're still a long, long way from being nationally recognized and being able to consistently pull recruits from Calif, AZ, Texas, FL and NY. To the best of my knowledge, that's never happened at UofI. As with Lou (1980's) and Bill Self (2000's), it all starts with Chicago and the state of Illinois.

BU is off to a great start. Just stay the course......(after all, we are picked to finish 11th/12th/13th in the Big 10 this season!)

But what you said is that the staff has built a wall around the state in recruiting. We aren't even close to having done that yet. Yes, these two guys should be real impact players and are the top two in the state this year. Until we beat out the Dukes of the world for the next version of Parker and Okafor, we haven't really walled anything off.
